HERE is the danger about Domestic and foreign made items.

What really is made in America anymore.

TVs, Computers, phones etc... are ALL made in a foreign country.

Now without giving me exact information about what she is hearing in Grand jury junk. My wife started to explain as vaguely as possible why this other post isn't as cut and dry.

Say someone downloaded an old mario game--which are sites that you can do legally. That someone doesn't want his (brother X) old computer and gives it OR sells it to his brother (brother Y) for like 20 bucks or for the $200 he needs to buy the new computer he wants.

The brother takes the old computer and cleans up all files and doc that his brother may not need or want but the guy knows his brother is a mario fan and he leaves the game on the computer for his brother.

For whatever reason after the "sell" the brother is caught doing something really bad on the computer his brother gave him like writing threating e-mails. The computer is taken into evidence and they are trying to build a case mean while the brother is going to be released on bail BUT computer guys find this old computer game that is register to brother X who sold the computer to brother Y. IF the federal government wanted to put pressure on the one brother or both brothers they can use that game against them.

The way a federal law is written any information that pass through a FOREIGN SOURCE is equal to international piracy. HOW do they make that case by using where the computer is made.

My wife has to sit still and keep her mouth shut because this is how some of these charges are being brought against people making it a Federal crime.

So basically you put your music library on your computer and then sell it to someone without taking songs off you can be viewed as a criminal because you sold something through a foreign source.

Good points, but I'm more concerned with vital infrastructure components being foreign made. HopeHoops Oct 2012 #1

It doesn't occur to most people, but the electronics in our critical military systems, our critical communications systems, our critical power transmission systems, and way too many other things to count rely on foreign components from China and other Pacific Rim countries. We just don't make them anymore. It certainly isn't just consumer goods that are worth concern. Our whole lifestyle and security network relies on things we simply don't manufacture now.

It reminds me of the scene in "Back To The Future" where Doc says, "Well here's your problem, it says 'Made In Japan'." and Marty replies, "Whadda ya mean, Doc. All the best stuff's made in Japan." Doc replies, "GREAT SCOTT!"

It's not just an intellectual property or legal problem. It's a national crisis. I'm sure rMoney will do whatever he can as president to reverse the trend.
