Let's say there is a secret deal to cut Social Security, what will you do?

If Romney wins, Social Security will be destroyed. If Obama wins, there is the belief that he'll make cuts.

What's the plan in any event? There should be mass protests, but here's a start, sign the petition here: http://strengthensocialsecurity.org/about

Which Senate Democrats are likely to vote to cut Social Security?

There will be an odd few who think that its ok because it Obama doing the cutting, but FDR needed to be pushed to do the right thing and we should never take the pressure off this President.

doom and gloom about Social security cuts for years.

IT IN NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

I think I lost all my bookmarks in the changeover to DU3, but I got in a habit of saving all those negative threads about Social Security.
( and invading Iran). I posted " It's not going to happen" then, and I am posting it again.

I'll buy stock in Purina.

Friskies Salmon dinner has all of the vitamins, minerals, and heavy metals that all ailing seniors needs in their dystopian diet.

Plus you can't beat that salmony taste.

If it's an open/honest discussion it will depend on the details. I hope to live many years after 2037 and I don't have any confidence that SS will be around in it's current form. The sooner we start making some changes, the more likely I will get something back from what I paid in after the current predictions for insolvency. Cuts may not be needed, but also may be the only way to get a compromise that makes the needed fixes for long-term survival.

Do you think there is a difference between those voting for Democrats because they believe they aren't going to "screw us" and those voting for Democrats knowing that they're going to "screw us"?

"Blind faith" maybe insulting, but a vote is a vote. Name calling is bad, e.g., lesser of two evils, but it's not a plan.
