The Big Money Is Coming Out Now And We Are Being Bombarded With

GOP ads in Colorado. You would think that we are in a deepening depression. And they are claiming that Obama has lost jobs and has fewer jobs than when the recession began because he has lost jobs and not gained them. I have never seen such a level of just complete vicious bold face lying and complete fabrication.

If you did not know better you would think that Obama's policies caused the original recession. It is just beyond sick.

They are running an ad against Pearlmutter claiming his wife is a lobbyist when she is a school teacher. The ex-wife did not become a lobbyist after they divorced before 2008. They are basically saying that Congressman Pearlmutter is still married to the first wife. That is how complete false their ads are.

They show Obama with a frown, and then say something like, "Did Your Tax Dollars Go To Created Jobs In China?" Color schemes for these brochures have all been red/black/white.

whether or not the effects of the Citizens United decision can be overcome--at least at the Presidential level. Hopefully most people will just mentally tune this stuff out now that they're being carpet-bombed with the lies and distortions. There might be a numbing effect just from the sheer volume of the ads. We'll see.

And they are claiming that Obama has lost jobs and has fewer jobs than when the recession began because he has lost jobs and not gained them.

Unfortunately the part about Obama's job record still being negative is true (and it is also true that there are fewer jobs now than when the recession began, but of course the recession began 13 months before Bush left office). January 20, 2009 at noon is when Obama replaced Bush.

Payroll Jobs: http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/CES0000000001

133,561,000 January 2009 non-farm payroll jobs
133,500,000 September 2012 non-farm payroll jobs
=====================================
,,,,,,, 61,000 Jobs lost

In the above, January 2009 is the base level, i.e. all of January's job losses are assigned to Bush. And all of February 2009's job losses are assigned to Obama. If we tried to break January into 2 parts -- Jan 1 thru Jan 20 and assigned that to Bush; and assigned January 21 through 31 to Obama -- then Obama's job loss record to date would be higher.

Now as for PRIVATE sector jobs, there were 514,000 more such jobs in Sept 2012 than in January 2009.

Private Sector Payroll Employment: http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/CES0500000001

More at: http://www.democraticunderground.com/111622439

Neither of the above figures include the PRELIMINARY annual revision, where payroll jobs for the 12 months between March 2011 and March 2012 are estimated to be 386,000 higher than reported so far, according to a Bureau Of Labor Statistics announcement September 27, 2012. The estimated 386,000 additional jobs consist of 453,000 more private sector jobs but 67,000 fewer government jobs (453-67=386 v/). Because it is a preliminary estimate, and because it is not included in the regular payroll employment pages in the links shown below ( http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/CES0000000001
and http://data.bls.gov/timeseries/CES0500000001 ), I am not including them in any of the numbers shown on this page. The final revision will be announced February 1, 2013.

But if they were included, it would make both job numbers (total and private sector) positive for Obama's term.
