FOX News just stooped to a new low even for it: Bret Baier gave an "in-depth report" titled- What's Behind Obama's Green Agenda- which they had touted all week would address both sides of an important issue. It was without a doubt the most dishonest and disgusting rant against the conservation movement that has ever aired. Not only did they slam Obama and the EPA, they only interviewed big coal, big oil, those great intellectuals Vitter of LA and Imhofe of OK and a couple of "scientists" who have been totally discredited. And mocked all the universities who are trying to teach sustainability. And (surprise) told us our only hope was to vote for Romney if we want "economic progress" and not just environmental protection. Worst of all they had the gall to broadcast from Colorado in front of our beautiful environment we are working so hard to preserve. No wonder Romney hates PBS, the only place we ever see fair and honest reporting.
On the same day the Denver Post ran a commentary from the National Audubon Society saying that they and ConservAmerica, a grassroots organization of conservation-minded Republicans, are joining in a ground-breaking movement called American Eagle Compact to take the politics out of conservation and return preservation of our national heritage of wilderness lands, clean air and clean water to its original roots as a unifying, rather than divisive, force in America. The website is www.eaglecompact.org. Do you think there is any hope?

(27,247 posts)It's 30% closer to the sun than the Earth is, and its day is actually longer than its year, meaning that it is slowly roasting over a hot spit. And its atmosphere is 100 times denser than the Earth's, with a far, far higher concentration of carbon dioxide to boot.
While greenhouse gases are becoming a problem on Earth, the problem is compounded by massive deforestation and urbanization, which go largely ignored in the media.

(16 posts)You can't take politics out of 'conservation'. It's always rightwingers who use that 'divisiveness' meme, like when they acuse Obama of advocating divisive 'class warfare'. Any ecological measures worth anything will have huge impact on corporations (and their profits)
