fulfilled and specifically that Gog and Magog are at work in the Middle

Fear Factor
500 Days, by Kurt Eichenwald
...........................
.............the Bush administration, and especially its lawyers, suffered a protracted nervous breakdown during that time. In that respect, it is an ambitious undertaking and a valuable resource.
Kurt Eichenwald, a contributing editor at Vanity Fair and a former reporter for The New York Times, makes his methodical case against the Bush administration with detailed examples rather than flat assertions. With each piece of evidence, it becomes clearer that in late 2001 and in 2002, President Bush and Vice President Cheney had begun panicking. Mistaking rumors and lies fabricated by victims of torture as actionable information and elbowing aside skeptics, they gave rein to their fears that the worst was yet to come and their hysteria spread to and infected parts of the national security establishment.
.....................................
The assistant attorney general John Yoo comes across as particularly determined in his wrongheadedness, and full of passionate intensity. Furious over a federal judges decision to uphold habeas corpus rights for a detainee held on American soil, he snapped to colleagues, I dont think this one guy, this one judge, this outlier should, because of the luck of the draw, be allowed to dictate how American detention policies can work.
Bush said in his first State of the Union address that American soldiers had apprehended people in Bosnia who were plotting to bomb the American Embassy there. As Eichenwald shows, this was untrue. No evidence supporting that charge was ever found, and five of the six men were set free after being held for seven years, their detention ruled illegal by a federal judge

(50,130 posts)Is "nervous breakdown" more likely than the fact that much of this was planned and facilitated by PNAC?

(2,605 posts)Funny how the folks that brought us the Iraq war still want to ship jobs overseas and destroy the middle class. Heck as long as we have a strong economy, like it or not, we'll have a powerful military. Lose either of those and they're up for grabs and headed for trial.
So you'd think self preservation would kick in.

(18,998 posts)I don't think there is a religious bone in Cheney's body...or Bush's ether for that matter....it sounds like a cover for their actions....they were just trying to keep us safe from Gog and Magog...PNAC had this planed for years.

(53,339 posts)Excerpt from Ari Berman's article in The Nation in May:
If we take the candidate at his word, a Romney presidency would move toward war against Iran; closely align Washington with the Israeli right; leave troops in Afghanistan at least until 2014 and refuse to negotiate with the Taliban; reset the Obama administration's "reset" with Russia; and pursue a Reagan-like military buildup at home. The Washington Monthly dubbed Romney's foreign policy vision the "more enemies, fewer friends" doctrine, which is chillingly reminiscent of the world Obama inherited from Bush.

(9,186 posts)Bush put in political cronies, not professionals.
they let people die in Katrina and her aftermath
they said nothing and did NOTHING about terrorism except dueing election cycles.
These people from Prez down to lowest cabinet post were unfit for office and the Nation paid dearly for it.

(24,979 posts)It was the most thrilling enabling event that they could have possibly imagined, and they seized on it with every tentacle. This, of course, is why they imagined it in the first place, as reading between Eichenwald's lines makes pretty clear.

(2,672 posts)trying to muddy the waters. Too many books and articles post 9/11 claiming the truth when a lot of them contradict each other. Propaganda to confuse the populous? Too many questions about 9/11 and a trickle of answers. I'm still not convinced about the pre/post 9/11 official explanation.

I've always wanted Octafish to write a book about the BFEE, is that what I'll find in this book?
