I got a medical marijuana license in Portland, OR. When I go to the dispensary, I get a choice of "Chem Dawg", "Purple Kush", "Super Siver Haze" etc.
We need to remove the drug culture names for these medicines and come up with better names in order to get more states on board.

(16,038 posts)But as a medical product, these names don't help the credibility of the movement..

(34,661 posts)is having a turd on this. Think of the number of folks who will have to be released. Tens of thousands, think of the money states save. Look at the states that are looking too and the ones that aren't,check the numbers as to Private Jailhouses. Thank you tricky Dick.

I support legalization but this whole MM concept is stupid.

(16,038 posts)the registered nurse who never touched the stuff..until she began chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer..it was the only medicine which controlled her nausea and made the chemo tolerable. She was ready to quit treatment because of the pain. She took several more treatment series because of the relief given by MMJ, which increased her life by about a year. I think you are mindlessly parroting the big pharm line to protect their unconscionable money driven desire to demonize the medical benefits.

Your own government disagrees with you (and itself)
They have even put it in writing:
Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties, unrelated to NMDA receptor antagonism. This new found property makes cannabinoids useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neuroprotectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease and HIV dementia....(Much Much More)

USPTO.GOV is the US Patent office
Take a look at the footnotes. They know exactly what they are talking about
The Significance of US Govt Cannabinoid Patent 6,630,507
So, why is this important? Here is a legal document, in the public domain, which flies in the face of the US Government's stated position with regard to the classification of cannabis as a Schedule I substance having no "currently accepted medical use". Believe me, citing this patent stops the "medical marijuana is a myth" advocates dead in their tracks. They simply cannot argue with it. The forces that would keep cannabis illegal are vocal and well funded, but they are not impervious to persistent effort. The lynch pin in the War on Drugs is cannabis. Without the suppression and interdiction of this popular and widely used substance, there simply would not be enough "illegal drug use" going on to justify the huge amount of money and resources spent on "fighting drugs."

Next time Holder says "there is no medical use for marijuana" you will know he is lying. Our Government says so. And they have the facts to back it up-see the footnotes.

(17 posts)I recently moved to Colorado and promptly got a med mj card. Smoked a lot of MJ when I was younger. I am now 55 years old. But the weed now does little for me other than make me paranoid. Oh, some of that old feeling is there, but not enough to make it worthwhile. Flushed that shit down the toilet today.
Maybe it is that they breed this med MJ for the smell or something. But it just does not seem to be worth it for me anymore. But it is the aging brain....

(16,038 posts)As I was studying this topic in relation to my sister, I found that all of the different varieties have different properties in their intoxicating effects. Some varieties are very prone to increase paranoia, others less. Some apparently effect sensory perception making sound and sights more intense, this was the variety which had some of the stronger nausea control used by my sister. Some are less mental and more physical feeling, I think they are used to stimulate appetite...maybe you didn't get the right kind?

(21,761 posts)I use three different dispensaries... Depending on what I want to purchase, I go to a different one... I have found much of the top shelf product to be both outstanding and reasonably priced. I'm 50 and just got my card this year as well, I find what I am getting is far better then when I was a teenager and cheaper... You are going to the wrong place my friend, do some research, there are plenty of reviews online.
