Romney shifts to center as his confidence grows.

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is shifting sharply to the political center as he begins to deliver a closing argument aimed at a slice of moderate, undecided voters a month before Election Day.

On taxes, immigration, his "47 percent" comments and more, the former Massachusetts governor has toned down his heated, campaign trail rhetoric this week, including during his strong debate performance Wednesday night, as he looks to gain ground against President Barack Obama in the handful of states that will determine the outcome of the competitive race.

"I know this is going to be a close-fought battle," a jubilant and invigorated Romney said in Colorado.

A close-fought battle? Not when your base gets a hold of this, you gloriously stupid creature!

"Who the fuck else ya gonna vote for, chumps?!" can work for Republicans, too.

2. Lol. The far right takes things very personally. They won't like Willard 'betraying' them.

Tea partiers are going to freak when they read Willard is shifting even the tiniest bit to the left - even if he started on the rightmost edge of the scale. And they make their attacks very personal, as well. This is going to go over like a lead balloon for Willard.

They know it's just an act, like W's "compassionate conservative" shtick. They realize he's one of them and, like Bush, that the mask will come off once he's elected.

That's been his problem the entire campaign and this definitely won't help.

6. If they believed that, they would have supported him from the beginning.

But they didn't. They wanted a loon like Santorum or Gingrich. They're stuck with Willard. But that doesn't mean they'll vote for him if he disgusts them enough. Moving to the center may do it.

the majority of Americans do not want the talibornagains and their masters of the universe running this country.

He can't run on the Republican platform with any hope of winning.
