Lying for the Lord - Mormon style

Having been raised catholic by nuns for 12 years, LYING warranted getting bubble gum stuck in my hair, or a ruler to the hands, and other depravity to smite us.

I'm no angel, but I have been absolutely amazed how much Romney gets caught in LIES, and does not seem to give a rats ass. So I decided to try the google, and found that LYING seems to be a customary attitude of mormons to basically get what they want. I thought I was brought up inside a freaky cult with Sister Perpetual Agony beating on us, but Bishop Mountain Meadows Mitt has her beat, hands down.

We're caught up in a real freak show in this election cycle people.

"For the Mormon, loyalty and the welfare of the church are more important than the principle of honesty, and plausible denials and deception by omission are warranted by an opportunity to have the Mormon organization seen in the best possible light. This is part of the larger package of things that lead many to describe Mormonism as a cult. "Lying for the lord" is part of Mormonism's larger deceptive mainstreaming tactics, and conversion numbers would drastically lower if important Mormon beliefs were fully disclosed to investigators."

snip >

"One Mormon blogger writes, "When I was a missionary, the church’s official Missionary Guide instructed missionaries to avoid providing direct answers or solutions to investigators' questions or concerns." On his mission, he "fell back on rhetorical tricks or even outright denials."

An adult would do that to you? As punishment?

I can't see dissing on another religion while touting the child abuse of your own. Just sayin'...

In the very catholic archdiocese of Boston, that's how the nuns rolled in those days.

I lived in Utah for a year and met many good people, but when the not-good ones started in on me to make me join the church, I was a aghast at their behavior and willingness to flout accepted norms.

I agree, we are caught in a freak show and so is the President, I hope he has good knowledgeable advisers on Mormonism and knows not to trust any Mormons he has working for him now with important, strategic information.

I've made several posts in the past, on the subject of lying for the lord.

I have serious trust issues because of my experiences, and what ex-mormon friends and acquaintances have told me about this subject, and I believe some people here may even believe that I am some kind of a religious bigot because of my wariness of mormons, but having experienced the things I have experienced, I can't help but have these trust issues.

And Romney totally reinforces my lack of trust.

and do NOT trust them when it comes to anything involving politics or money or discussing their own religion.

"milk before meat". If people knew the truth about the "meat" of the religion, no one would join it, and the Mormon church wholly acknowleges that. The whole lying for the Lord thing has been a part of Mormonism from the beginning, which is why nothing Mitt says surprises me. The Church was founded by a sociopath, for Gods sakes.....

Maybe in a perfect world there would be only one religion, but in this one there are many and they are not all the same. And not all religious people are suckers.
