Let's not forget that the next debate is in the town hall format.

This is something that's very important. Most commentators are scoring the first debate as a win for Romney. Romney does well when he can stick to the script and nail his talking points. In a town hall format? Probably not so much; he does much more poorly at communicating directly with voters, and the town hall format is the perfect setup for using "47%" and "tax returns" and all the other things that so many here are wailing that Obama didn't even mention in the first debate. If Obama brought those up, GOP strategists would be saying "well, it's just petty sniping to distract from a discussion of his record! All this has been gone over extensively and it's been public, harping on it when there are more important things to discuss shows that Obama wants to hide from his record and won't debate Mitt Romney on the real issues!" but when a member of the public is posing those questions to Romney in a town hall? They can't do that, and it's very likely to fluster Romney and make him lose his cool, because it's deviating from the script and he doesn't deal well with that at all.

If the moderator hasn't got the balls to control him, then it won't matter. Agnosticsherbet Oct 2012 #2

I suspect that Romney will try to do what was done last night, address Obama directly and ignore the moderator.
