Fact checkers including this blog quickly pounced on the claim, explaining that only a tiny percentage of firms that received grants or loans from the Recovery Act have actually filed for bankruptcy. And now, the Romney campaign itself is walking back the GOP presidential candidates claim. From Michael Grunwald, author of The New New Deal: The Hidden History of Change in the Obama Era:

ICYMI: Romney camp told me (after my tweet-rants) Mitt didn't mean to say half the #stimulus-funded green firms failed. Probably <1% so far.

(8,377 posts)3. And he didn't mean to say we put $90B in green energy? THREE TIMES?
That's as big a lie as saying half of them are bankrupt when the truth is < 1%. The amount going into green energy development is much lower than $90B. I wish it were $90B.
How can we expect a President to make good decisions if he can't deal with accurate data? He is off by orders of magnitude.
