I keep telling you: We're in an Era of Lying....

The Media lies ALL THE TIME. Lying let's you keep your job and advance. Tell the Truth and you end up like Chris Hedges, Don Siegelman, et al.

No bigger put-down than being a Troother.

And Pathological Liars do it best. Here's the scary part: it's infecting all layers of our society. Yes, even Medicine. A friend left a top job at a major University Medical Center. It WAS the world leader in a specialty it pretty much created. As he left, all the world-class leaders were fired or left. The liars who chased profits over patient care were ascendant. The department is now (or should be) on the verge of being shut down. I hear patient survivability stats are abysmal.

And as time goes on. I despair that we'll find our way back to Truth. The Truth is becoming way too dismal. I think Chris Hedges is right: we're going to collapse.

Lying has established a strong beachhead in the Scientific community.

Scares the shit out of me.

first we passed through the era of stupity for profit, which is still with us and now we live the era of lying for profit. But then again, they probably go hand in hand.

but not the rapturous kind. The kind where people are forced by their own circumstances to see the truth.

The kind where you realize you did everything they told you to do, and you got underpaid and tossed on your ass in spite of your hard work and loyalty.

Personally, I believe most working people have been paying and paying and paying for all of these lies, while Wall Street parties on and the rich get more and more of the pie.

Working people and poor people are exhausted. Yet they keep getting told they have to sacrifice more until it's become absurd. We've given all we can give! Hopefully people's BS meters are more in tune than the general sentiment on DU suggests.

I think letting Rmoney blather on so smirkily and hyped up on BS was brilliant. Lots of stuff to work with.

So lies can be his undoing, just as they can keep us from becoming complacent.

If anything, I think the way some are so quick to praise Rmoney says a great deal about the prevalence of bullying as a social and political strategy.

Everything on it has suffered at the hands of those who would do, say or invest in anything to make more money. There is not an inch of the world that hasn't felt the hot breath of greed on it.
Now that the planet has been soundly beaten the only thing left to attack is the people. The great wealth machine has set its sights on the last remaining resources to attach themselves too and they will. Millions of MBA's, mid-level executives, financial advisers & small time investors have had no qualms hitching their wagon to the trail of destruction rampaging through the last remaining spots of uncorrupted wilderness we have, will they really have no qualms about fleecing us in the same way? I suspect not. At a certain point it all comes down to the strength of your own personal moral code. To some the great lie is an obvious affront to all creation. To others it is a steady job with benefits and to a few, the easiest means to untold wealth.
The liars have won. Our planets taken one to the glass jaw. We are plump, docile and ready to be harvested.

It is everywhere, and yes, admired. "You're a fool for being honest"--is a generally accepted MO.

Yep.
