Why are people attacking those who thought Romney "won" the debate?

First of all, it should be said that no one can really know who "won" the debate in a political sense because it involves things like "who seemed more likable" and other vague things which depend on the impressions one took away.

But, having said that, I thought that Mitt (through the strategy of basically lying and bullying) appeared more energetic and "on top".

But whatever people's opinion on the subject, what is the counter-reaction going on whereby posters are attacking those who hold that opinion? It seems, well petty and childish.

I think said posters should direct their anger in more useful directions or maybe just have a cream soda and relax.

Stephanie Cutter said Romney won on "style and preparation." I don't think that makes her a bedwetting traitor.

Why are so many grabbing people by the lapels and shouting "ROMNEY WON!" in their faces?

I think said posters should stop taking the gibberish of the pundits as meaningful.

No one is saying "Romney won" as a way of attacking the motives of a person or to impugn their belief systems.

the flip side of the coin is one should not spend months or years constantly saying a pundit is right and quoting them and then all of sudden start screaming the pundit is wrong when the pundit says the President performed poorly in the debate last night.

The above is a general comment not aimed any specific person on DU or pundit.

We're Obama supporters, who are voting for him regardless of his debate performance, but who are disappointed that our guy didn't do a better job. He's smart and he's eloquent. Romney left himself wide open to any number of rhetorical thrusts that would have drawn blood. But that never happened.

I hope he'll do better in the next two debates.

The debates are about policy in only a narrow sense. In a larger sense, they are about showcasing the candidates themselves. In that respect, Romney 'won' since he didn't implode. And Obama 'lost' because he didn't put this fucker away for good when he had the chance.

I doubt it will change the direction of the election, however.

for stating what most people who saw the debate have concluded: Romney won. He doesn't use the word "troll," but it's the same accusation. Is he following anyone else around?

An attempt to silence opinions.

Long time supporter of Obama, I am. Before anyone else was in this forum, that I'm aware of. I contributed hundreds of dollars to his 2008 campaign, and I've contributed to his campaign this year several times...the last time was right after the debate.

But yes, it was not a good night for Obama. Romney was allowed to spout lie after lie without challenge. Obama was off his game. However, as I've said before, I've seen every one of Obama's debates. While he is a great orator, he is not a great debater. His manner of speaking (thoughtful, thinking, pauses) doesn't lend itself to that. Still, he has held his own in MOST debates he's been in. Last night was not good.

For the stupid undecideds, who don't know facts, they don't know that Romney spouted outright lies all night.

Having said that, it's one debate, one night. Not the end of the world or the campaign, and certainly won't cause any Obama supporter not to vote for him.

The only thing I can say is that I agree with Big Ed and Chris Matthews when they said "Where WAS Obama" last night. Where was that amazing orator we see every day? It was painful watching that debate, especially for someone who really loves Obama.

I watched him grimace with each Romney lie, and then his responses fell completely and utterly flat and didn't challenge the lie.

on edit:
And, the DU Troll Hunters make this place unbearable. You're just not allowed to have an opinion other than theirs.

for telling it like it is or at least as they see it.
