Romney and PBS

Among all the BS and lies tonight it was probably one of the more revealing remarks he made, showing up his true character. One moment he's saying that education is one of his priorities, the next that he wants to get rid of one of the great American educational and cultural institutions. We get an international version of PBS on satellite in Britain, and it's excellent !

From the coverage of Romney in the UK, I get the impression he's the sort of guy who's obsessed with money to the point of ignoring anything remotely artistic or cultural - and that's the way he wants every other American to be - selfish, money-crazed and dumb...

It's also a lot easier to an govern ill-informed populace and force them into menial jobs for shit wages.

PBS has excellent programming and I can honestly say it's had a bigger impact on me than any person or institution. When I was young, naturally I learned a lot from Sesame Street and the Electric Company if anyone remembers that. But also shows like Big Blue Marble and Zoom were pretty groundbreaking children's programming. I watched (and still do) Nova and Nature obsessively...and learned basic home repair (This Old House) and a helluvalot of cooking techniques from Jacques Pepin. I have watched Masterpiece from the beginning and found my all-time favorite show, Monty Python, on that station.

I don't understand the GOPs obsession with defunding PBS. Maybe they didnt like the second season of Downton Abbey...it was kinda "meh"...

Are totally baffled by the words NON PROFIT.

They can't conceive of doing something...anything, without a profit!!

He claimed that insurance companies will give us the best deals. GEEZ...how can anyone who pays insurance premiums that go up every year actually believe that! Obama made it so clear that by taking the profit out of healthcare we would save money. Of course! I don't get how Romney won...what did he win on? His rude, pushy, obnoxious behavior!
