Laid off worker: "Firing people and making light of it is wrong. I'm going to call him out on it."

Posted by Elizabeth Chan at the DNC: http://www.democrats.org/news/blog/firing_people_and_making_light_of_it_is_wrong

From the second floor of an Italian restaurant in downtown Manchester—the Democratic Party's war room in New Hampshire for the week—DNC communications director Brad Woodhouse and laid-off worker Randy Johnson responded to Romney's latest incredibly out-of-touch comments.

Here's a quick recap: Yesterday, Mitt Romney told a New Hampshire crowd that he knows what it feels like to fear a pink slip, though he and the campaign have been unable to cite any specific examples of when that might be the case. That's because when Romney took the job at Bain Capital, he negotiated himself a pretty sweet deal with zero risk to himself. As Woodhouse put it: "The only reason Mitt Romney knows what a pink slip is is that he's handed out so many."

But then this morning, the man who claimed he knew the fear of getting laid off told supporters at a campaign event that he "likes being able to fire people." Johnson, who was actually laid off when Bain Capital took over his office-supply plant in Indiana, spoke from the heart: "It brought back memories," he said, of hearing Romney joke about firing. "That is exactly what they told me: You're fired. Firing people and making light of it is wrong. I'm really going to call him out on it."

You can help us call him out. Check out this video—and pass it along to your friends and family. Don't let Mitt Romney get away with being so callous about people's livelihoods.

refer you to these folks . . .

That has absolutely zero to do with the subject of the thread. It's not as you can't start one of your own.

It just shot out at me from the page.

As far as "referring me," I guess democrats are above reproach? I must bow down and worship everything they do?

Never been that type, never will be.

Romney out of touch or lying? The sky is blue, bees make honey. Anything else obvious we should point out?

The big light blue D was right there and it annoyed me.

Now, we can either let this drop, or continue. You seem to be making a bigger deal out of it then warranted.

It helps give visibility to this effort from our party to hold the republican candidate Romney accountable.

. . . who actually 'likes' firing workers? I can just imagine what fired workers feel hearing him say that with such arrogance; especially those laid off as a result of his investment company's profit-taking.

unless, soon, he gets videotaped sleeping the the Masterbating Bear (google it). In a sleazy motel. With Santorum. Oh and Ron Paul dressed in leather and lace with a 'cat of nine tails' protuding from his backside orifice. And the motel is being raided by a SWAT team, because in the next room over they are cooking meth for breakfast.

Maybe then.

Why Huntsman can’t win the republican primaries:
1. He supported civil unions as Governor of Utah
2. He said he would not use federal powers to block a law legalizing same-sex marriage.
3. He threatened to veto a bill repealing in-state college tuition for illegal immigrants.
4. He signed a bill giving illegal aliens access to “driving-privilege cards”.
5. He supports granting more H-1B visas to foreigners
6. He has not taken an anti-immigrant or anti-Hispanic stance.
7. He signed the Western Climate Initiative, by which Utah joined with other governments in agreeing to pursue targets for reduced production of greenhouse gases.
8. He appeared in an advertisement sponsored by Environmental Defense, in which he said, “Now it’s time for Congress to act by capping greenhouse-gas pollution"
9. He worked in the Obama administration as an ambassador to China
10. He said he believes in science
11. He said he believes in evolution.
12. He has said that President Obama is an American citizen.
13. He is too rational, too normal, too genteel for most of today’s conservatives.
