CBS poll of uncommitteds: 46% say Mitt won, 22% say Obama and 32% call it a draw

8:11 PM PT: CNN says it will have its snap poll results available after the commercial break. The CBS poll released a short time ago had good numbers for Romney, showing him winning 46-22.

8:13 PM PT: NEW @CBSNews post-debate: 56% say their opinion of Romney has changed for the better. Just 13% say that about the President.

— @Sarah_Boxer via TweetDeck

Well, a good night for Romney. 56% changed for the better, but of course more people hated him to begin with.

P.S....

8:19 PM PT: Wait up: That CBS poll was not of the electorate as a whole. It was of uncommitted voters, among whom Romney needs to absolutely clean up.

CBS News Poll of uncommitted voters shows 46% pick Mitt Romney as debate winner. 22% say it was Pres Obama. 32% call it a tie.
— @markknoller via web

So 54% say it's a draw and/or Obama won. Not a home run for Rmoney!!

2. Give them a couple of days to think what he really said

which was absolutely nothing.

The first reaction is not the accurate one in this case.

Can you name one thing that Romney said that is substantive -- not just a platitude or vague promise -- that will actually stick with people more than 8 hours?

The "47%" sticks with him. Nothing he said tonight has any lasting effect. And when you put all of tonight's empty promises and vague claims side by side with the 47% video, you will get an "aw shit, we've been had" moment.

Hey, I wonder if that ever occurred to the Obama team. Ya think?

3. The part that makes me sick is that undecideds opinion of Romney went up by 56 percent.

Hopefully as you say when people realize all he did was lie, it will change. Also I keep hoping an even bigger scandal will be found out about Romney, one even bigger than the tape which will knock him out of contention completely with all but ReThugs.

4. Not bad numbers, and should do better in 2nd debate (town hall style).

Less than half thought Romney won the debate, and I would think a few of those minds might change a bit after fact-checking. Romney needs to do a lot better than almost half.

I'm hoping that now that Predisdent Obama has had a nice look at what Romney is bringing to the table he will come out stronger for the next two debates. The 2nd debate is "town hall" style with selected undecideds asking questions, and I think he does much better in those sorts of interactions than Romney.

9. Romney won on imagery. President Obama won on facts and policy.

But President Obama should have and could have done a better job of countering Romney's outright lies.

And it didn't help much that Obama stood there helpless under the circumstances.

7. President Obama needs to do a fucking better job in the next debate.

President Obama's performance was embarrasing and hurtful to watch. President Obama let Romney get away with lie after lie and didn't attempt to fact check Romney. Romney came into the debate with a better strategy.

but I think the commercials are going to sway more votes than the debates and that makes me feel better.
