It will give the current occupant plenty of time to clean out his desk.

(6,565 posts)Why can't Biden just fire him the same way? Like, "Don't bother showing up for work on Monday?"
Maybe Joe could send him to a post office in, say, Alaska? Can Joe say where the office is?

(14,920 posts)December, and that is one of the 2 Democrats (it is bipartisan by law). None of the others expire before December 2021, and most later than that. So it seems we are stuck with them for a while, unless they choose to resign.

(6,565 posts)No, I believe you. I just find it hard to see that Biden can't fix this problem before December 2021. Maybe he can impose some rigorous penalties for not doing what he wants?
I want him to follow the law, but I want DeJoy GONE. I want our postal front line warriors (on whom I totally depend, by the way) to be happy, healthy, and content.
It just infuriates me...

(36,509 posts)Donald Trump will be gone, but Postmaster Louis DeJoy might stick around
If President-elect Joe Biden hopes to repair the damage caused by the Trump administration, finding a way to dump DeJoy would be a big step.

As president, Joe Biden will no doubt do his best to fumigate the federal government but he could be stuck with at least one big pest for years to come: U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy.
DeJoy, the Trump loyalist who purposely delayed the nations mail service to satisfy his boss desire to suppress mail-in balloting from Democratic voters, was named to the spot last year by the postal services Board of Governors. You might hope that the board, under Biden, would appoint somebody better.
But a majority of the boards members, four, are Trump appointees, and their terms extend well into the years of the Bidens administration.
So unless he resigns, DeJoy, a major GOP fundraiser, will remain postmaster general and have a free hand for the 2022 midterms, supported by a governing board that backed him as he yanked sorting equipment from postal facilities, removed public mailboxes and suspended overtime pay in advance of this months elections.

(18,402 posts)have we ever known or noticed the name of the Postmaster General? I can't recall, but I'm pretty sure in my case, never. Until DeJoy.
Nice guys don't make headlines.

(1,684 posts)Soliciting campaign donations from employees then paying them back is a violation of the law. There are multiple current and former employees who have already publicly stated that this happened. Dejoy will be going down with little actual joy.
