Miguel Cabrera. Triple Crown. Discuss.

I'm verklempt.

Mods: The Triple Crown has not been awarded in Major League Baseball since 1967. Hence, I believe this accomplishment is worthy of one thread in General Discussion

What is the Triple Crown, for the non-sports inclined?

It means that he led the American League in batting average, runs batted-in (RBIs) and home runs. A truly remarkable feat.

Yaz in fact won 1967 SI Sportsman of the Year. It was a Big Deal, and the sporting world stopped. Now, 45 years is too long - can't believe the denigration of Cabrera by columnists like those on ESPN about this achievement.

Great moment in sports history. What an achievement.

Is it just suspicion in the steroid age, or does it have something to do with the rise of Latin American baseball players?

I still love me some Grandy (still have his Tigers jersey), but I don't expect him to have a 4 home run game. Trout has already conceded the batting average race, and Miggy ran away with the RBI race some time ago.

I'm surprised Pujols never got one, though. But he still has a couple of good years left in him.

hitting a baseball successfully enough to lead the league, hit more home runs and drive in more runners than anyone else this is a phenomenal performance. Plus I grew up on the west side of Detroit and the Tigers will always have a spot in my heart.......
