"As long as I'm relevant, I will continue this through 2016," Johnson said during the meeting, which was simulcast live online.
A former two-term governor of New Mexico, Johnson initially sought the Republican nomination for president in 2011, but he switched to the Libertarian Party in May after struggling to gain traction in state and national polls. Through the Libertarian Party, Johnson's name will be included on ballots in 47 states on Election Day, and a CNN/ORC poll in early September suggested that he could take as much as 3 percent of the vote.

(12,081 posts)so all I will say is I am a liberal democrat who believes in a multi-party system or maybe even a no party system. What we have is not working. Congress has somewhere around a 10% approval rating. No where in our constitution does it say we have to have parties at all. There. I said it. I blasphemed. You can strike my post down now if you want. I have said my peace.

(94,757 posts)Seriously, Political Parties formed because like-minded people realized it wasn't terribly easy to run for office alone, and formed a group structure to promote ideas and candidates. It's something I think Gary Johnson will recognize he needed more of on November 6.

(9 posts)Jesse Ventura is one the few people (not politicians) who is bold enough to give the other two party's a run for their money. He would easily garner enough support to be allowed to debate.

(17,291 posts)Most people would describe getting "as much as three percent of the vote" as getting a hell of a beating. Thinking that makes you "relevant" is really sanity-challenged.
