That said, since then we have elected black senators and Harold Washington did teach many in Chicago that black politicians wouldn't destroy the country. I'm sure we would never have a President Barack Hussein Obama without having Chicago Mayor Harold Washington in our past.

You'd probably be shocked by who is/isn't by their words. And even more shocked by the way people to claim to not be racist and those who claim to be racist (they exist) act.

I go by actions, and I'd say the worst racist I know is a Democrat who talks a good game but doesn't live it. And up in the mountains there is a small town (actually just 2 dirt roads and a gas station/store) where one of my friends lives that confess to being racist. From what I've seen they treat any black better than anyone in my city treats blacks and they have a few black neighbors and one has a black wife. I have seen black "strangers" stop at the store, so I've seen more than just the people they know.

12. For the most part, I find this to be true.

When I am first getting to know someone new, I can almost always guess their political affiliation from racist/bigoted comments, and how they treat people that they perceive to have a lower status than them. However, there are a couple people I know that have acted racist in the past and voted for Obama because they hate what the Republican party has become and hate them more.

I think that the Republican's "big tent" is the one that welcomes the racists into their party. The racists in our party for the most part are Democrats because they've always been Democrats because their parents were Democrats and so on through their family tree in protest to when the liberal Republican Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves. Some will never leave the Democratic Party (like Zell Miller), but every so often these racists see that today's Republican Party more closely represents their views and will leave the Democratic Party, like Strom Thurmond.

It should be "not all Republicans are racist, but most racists are Republicans. I remember reading somewhere that said the KKK actually sees the GOP as too liberal for them.

The population here is about 68% white, only 23% of total population registered as Republican, and in 2008, this Dem county voted overwhelmingly for all Democratic Party candidates (local and state-wide) EXCEPT for president.

They may be Dems, but they are hard-core racists. Also homophobes--they passed Amendment One here by 72%.
