Lay Off of Community Organizers!

The negative worth of being a “community organizer” is, ONCE AGAIN, rearing its ugly head in the discourse of 2012 Republican presidential candidates, Tea Partied Republican Congressional representatives and Right Wing cable news network commentators and show hosts. They need to lay off of degrading community organizers. Community organizing was the FOUNDATION of many nationally recognized AND respected community-based organizations such as the United Way, the Red Cross, the Boy Scouts, the Girl Scouts, the Boys and Girls Club and thousands of other organizations dedicated to serving victims of natural disasters, youth, the disadvantaged, the physically disabled, the homeless, the elderly, the disenfranchised, and the poor (OF ALL RACES).

Community organizers don’t make a lot of money and don’t have the hefty budgets that Republican presidential candidates, Tea Partied Republican Congressional representatives and Right Wing cable news network hosts have to get through the day. They are dedicated to identifying and addressing the root cause of problems and creating solutions that make things better for all groups in their community. They empower individuals to control their own lives and maximize the access to be contributing members of society. They work long and hard hours to ensure social equality, economic equality, and environmental sustainability.

Well to do AND wealthy Republican presidential candidates, Tea Partied Republican Congressional representatives and Right Wing cable news network commentators aren’t faced with the day to day challenges of community organizers. They have plenty of staff to put on their makeup, comb their hair and select the clothing they wear on set or at a debate. They have lobbyists to write legislation that INCREASES THE NEED FOR MORE community organizers. They have staff to write the sound bites they use to downgrade community organizers on their Right Wing cable news shows.

You have to be a special type of person to be a community organizer, because – unlike Republican presidential candidates, Tea Partied Republican Congressional representatives and Right Wing cable news network pundits and show hosts – you’re DEFINITELY not in it for the money!

Hey Governor Palin.
JESUS was a community organizer
Pontius Pilate was a Governor
Get the difference?
