UPDATE - New Fairfield CT - Father shoots son believed to be burglar

I posted in another thread that this tragedy happened only five miles from where I live. Our local newspaper (the News-Times - www.newstimes.com) has one update today from the father's lawyer, saying that he believes it is unlikely that any charges will be filed:

A story on Saturday quoted Paul Vance (our CT State Trooper Information Officer) as saying that there were many weeks of investigation to go on this event. The story also states that the father did not know he had shot his son until the paramedics arrived to remove the body.

It's all anybody around here is talking about. So very sad.

Will this be a statistic that is marked as too rare to be considered in the wisdom of the castle doctrine? What this man now has to live with is absolutely tragic.

a knife in hand and wearing a mask? If that was his idea of a practical joke, then his judgment was severely damaged.

And the answer may have died with Tyler. It is certainly, from everything I've heard, a key focus of the investigation.
