Appeals court denies rehearing on Ryan appeal (former Republican governor of Illinois)

A federal appeals court in Chicago has refused a request by imprisoned former Gov. George Ryan that all the court's judges rehear his appeal seeking an earlier release from prison.

A three-sentence statement Monday from the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals says simply the request is denied. It offers no explanation.

Three appellate judges in August rejected arguments that Ryan's 2006 convictions for corruption should be tossed because prosecutors never proved he took a bribe. The court currently has 10 active judges with one vacancy.

I only learned about this story today. Although Ryan began his political career in a county south of the city of Chicago, it seems he became another typical Chicago politician after entering state government.

He ran against an anti-abortion Democrat, and was the only pro-choice candidate in the race. It wasn't a great list of options.

Not surprising that he expects special treatment, he is a scumbag.
