The Tea Party. Does it still exist?

I am out contacting voters. The only anti-Obama voters I meet in my area of LA are grouchy old men and overweight, middle-aged women.

Of course, that describes the majority of Tea Party members. But I'm wondering whether that "movement" still exists. Did it just become more trouble than it was worth? Has it merged into the Republican Party from which it really came? What is the story on that?

The tea party is simply the most recent manifestation of the religious right. They will always be around in some form.

It was cooked up by wealthy republicans to scare the dumbass demographic about proposed Obama policies earlier in his term.

And I guess it did scare them but who it REALLY scared were republican congresscritters who fell for the bullshit put out by Fox and right wing radio that the so called tea party was some sort of grass roots movement with massive popular support. And that they would face primary opposition from TP backed candidates if they didn't get their asses in line.

So there was enough support for this crap to get a few lunatic fringe characters elected to congress and drive some others far enough to the right to ensure that no legislation proposed by the President would ever get through congress.

But the TP obviously lacked any kind of unified policy message (beyond "cut taxes" and "he's a Kenyan Muslim&quot and now that the 1%ers who dreamed it up have other fish to fry it seems to have lost momentum to the point where you never hear about it anymore.

I guess it served its purpose but it's gone the way of the dodo now.

I heard a local add here in NC for a "Tea Party Patriots" rally to be held in Asheboro, NC next weekend. So in the rural trailer park regions of NC it's still going strong.
