When you see a picture of either of the Obama's you see a good example of the make up of our citizens in the smiling faces of the crowd. There is always someone from all walks of life, poor to not so poor, young to not so young, black to white, brown to yellow. Those of us who are supporters of our President are in a very diverse and large group. America should be Proud of our President, Vice President and first families.

If it wasn't for hate radio and fox noise she would

It's like we're arranging chairs on a sinking ship, and no one is talking about the fact that we're about to be treading water.

I suppose I'll get flame responses since I'm not gushing admiration in my statements.

. . . and, there's not a damn thing wrong with 'gushing admiration' for Michelle Obama. I'd take a closer look at her gardening initiative before writing her off as indifferent or uninvolved with regard to the environment.

But we aren't hearing what people need to hear in proportion to the severity of our situation. Gardening and light bulb replacement are glitter compared to the big picture.

I've been waiting nearly 40 years. And in that time we have avoided this discussion on the level it needs.

It's my response to a thread that is talking about our children's future. So I feel what I'm saying is justified. Funny how it never seems to go anywhere though.

President Obama is the first President to really push green energy. The country has more wind and solar power output than ever before. The beauty of both is that they can be installed in places where no new real estate is taken up. Solar panels can and are more frequently being installed on buildings and on top of buildings. Windmills are being installed on land that is being farmed, making money for farmers and supplying clean energy.

All of the above matters because the more of it we have, the less drilling has to be done in environmentally sensitive areas. The goal is to have no drilling in environmentally sensitive areas, but enough energy production must exist to make that possible.

The above is a realistic view, not one where a person doesn't want a problem to happen, but give no fucking ideas on how to prevent those problems.
