(29,582 posts)Shame on you for implying that about Obama
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,710 posts)Any way their VP is a huge Obama partisan and fundraiser as is the King:

You know exactly what you did.
Own up to it.
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,710 posts)Any way The King is a Democrat. I think he maxed out on his Obama contribution in 08.
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,710 posts)He is a Rookie Of The Year, a three time MVP, and a Final MVP.
If Obama performs as well in his debate as The King did this season ans post season Romney will be reduced to a whimpering mess....
taterguy
(29,582 posts)For chrissakes, he's a protege of Bobby Knight.
He coaches at Duke.
He stumped for Liddy Dole.
There must be a lot you don't know.
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,710 posts)I don't know what your point is.
on edit-LOL- Carmelo Anthony, James' fellow Olympian was coached by Coach K too...
In your tortured analogy James, Anthony, Obama, and Romney were coached by Coach K.
taterguy
(29,582 posts)If only there was a decent hoopster coached by a prominent Dem.
Oh wait, there's Jordan, the best basketball player that ever lived.
Phil Jackson convinced him to abandon his 'Republicans buy shoes too' attitude and start working for Democrats.
Instead you let your fandom ruin your analogy.
LeBron? Puhlezze.
LeBron is despised by most sports fans. Some if it's deserved, some of it is circumstantial.
However, at this point in his career LeBron is the Wilt of his era: Someone with freakish talent but character flaws that prevent him from living up to his potential.
Not exactly someone to rally around, unless you happen to live in South Florida.
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,710 posts)And whatever flaws LeBron has or doesn't have he never refused to endorse a fellow African American in a campaign against an anachronistic racist. Nobody had to cajole LeBron to endorse/support Barack Obama. He intuitively knew it was the right thing to do.
And as far as living up to his potential how many NBA players have won two Olympic Gold Medals, three Most Valuable Players awards, a Rookie Of The Year, and a Most Valuable Player award Final award at the age of twenty seven?
taterguy
(29,582 posts)Clearly the sun is addling your brain.
Good day to you.
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,710 posts)You started this conversation by implying I had some ulterior motive by picking the best player who happens to play on the best team in the NBA as a fictional surrogate for President Obama in the debates. This was because he happened to play for a Republican coach at the Olympics. Mike Krzyzewski was representing the United States and not the Republican party but I digress... The King was the The King before he ever met Mike Krzyzewski but I digress again.
If Obama has a series of debates like The King's 2011-2012 NBA season ,Willard Romney will be turned into a whimpering mess...

DemocratSinceBirth
(99,710 posts)This current version of the Bulls raison d'etre is to be the Miami Heat's foil.
*And Rose shot .063 when The King was guarding him:
Rose shot 6.3 percent from the floor in the series when defended by James, lowest among any player that defended him on five or more plays.
http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2011/5/27/2193005/lebron-james-defense-derrick-rose-miami-heat-chicago-bulls
Whatever
taterguy
(29,582 posts)I thought you were better than that.
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,710 posts)I merely pointed out that the Heat beat essentially the same team (with a healthy Rose) 4-1 in the previous Eastern Conference Final unless you think the acquisition of Rip Van Winkle, errrr Hamilton was some kind of game changer.
taterguy
(29,582 posts)If we're changing the subject to 2011 results?
DemocratSinceBirth
(99,710 posts)LeBron James is the 2011-2012 NBA MVP and Final MVP. It's not his problem that Derrick Rose blew out his knee... The Heat were missing Chris Bosh for a large part of the post season but were able to compensate for his absence because they have The King.
And if Dirk wasn't swept in the first round of the playoffs by the team (Thunder) that went on to be gentlemenly swept (4-1) by the Heat for the NBA championship he would have had the opportunity to be swept too...
The ironic thing is you took umbrage at my suggestion that everything will be fine if President Obama performs as well on Wednesday evening as LeBron did during the 011-012 season not because he was coached by Coach K but because you are a disgruntled Bulls fan.
Face it. The Heat are the Bulls betters and comparing Derrick Rose to The King is fanciful. Better to compare Rose to lesser players like Kyree Irving, Deron Williams, and Chris Paul.

(99,710 posts)Keep posting and I will keep responding. I am astounded that you took a simple, tongue in cheek assertion about the presidential debates to this level.
BTW, it's not healthy to have so much investment in another person's failure unless that person is a Republican.
taterguy
(29,582 posts)Did you even watch the Celtics / Cavs series?
LeBron flat-out quit.
As stated before, nothing admirable about that, no matter what else was involved.

(33,497 posts)things have been going so well I get a little nervous and think that Romney will do well enough to be proclaimed the winner by the MSM and enough voters will allow the 'media perception' to become their perception. (50,561 posts)Willard is going to get owned, but a more apt comparison would be LeBron against a third-string college student. For all his foibles, Melo is capable of convincing someone to pay him to play basketball.
