Sep 2012

If only there was a decent hoopster coached by a prominent Dem.

Oh wait, there's Jordan, the best basketball player that ever lived.

Phil Jackson convinced him to abandon his 'Republicans buy shoes too' attitude and start working for Democrats.

Instead you let your fandom ruin your analogy.

LeBron? Puhlezze.

LeBron is despised by most sports fans. Some if it's deserved, some of it is circumstantial.

However, at this point in his career LeBron is the Wilt of his era: Someone with freakish talent but character flaws that prevent him from living up to his potential.

Not exactly someone to rally around, unless you happen to live in South Florida.

And whatever flaws LeBron has or doesn't have he never refused to endorse a fellow African American in a campaign against an anachronistic racist. Nobody had to cajole LeBron to endorse/support Barack Obama. He intuitively knew it was the right thing to do.

And as far as living up to his potential how many NBA players have won two Olympic Gold Medals, three Most Valuable Players awards, a Rookie Of The Year, and a Most Valuable Player award Final award at the age of twenty seven?

You started this conversation by implying I had some ulterior motive by picking the best player who happens to play on the best team in the NBA as a fictional surrogate for President Obama in the debates. This was because he happened to play for a Republican coach at the Olympics. Mike Krzyzewski was representing the United States and not the Republican party but I digress... The King was the The King before he ever met Mike Krzyzewski but I digress again.

If Obama has a series of debates like The King's 2011-2012 NBA season ,Willard Romney will be turned into a whimpering mess...

This current version of the Bulls raison d'etre is to be the Miami Heat's foil.

*And Rose shot .063 when The King was guarding him:

Rose shot 6.3 percent from the floor in the series when defended by James, lowest among any player that defended him on five or more plays.

31. You Changed The Subject
Sun Sep 30, 2012, 11:52 AM
Sep 2012

LeBron James is the 2011-2012 NBA MVP and Final MVP. It's not his problem that Derrick Rose blew out his knee... The Heat were missing Chris Bosh for a large part of the post season but were able to compensate for his absence because they have The King.

And if Dirk wasn't swept in the first round of the playoffs by the team (Thunder) that went on to be gentlemenly swept (4-1) by the Heat for the NBA championship he would have had the opportunity to be swept too...

The ironic thing is you took umbrage at my suggestion that everything will be fine if President Obama performs as well on Wednesday evening as LeBron did during the 011-012 season not because he was coached by Coach K but because you are a disgruntled Bulls fan.

Face it. The Heat are the Bulls betters and comparing Derrick Rose to The King is fanciful. Better to compare Rose to lesser players like Kyree Irving, Deron Williams, and Chris Paul.
