2. I don't think such words are necessary...as the richest nation in the world we should be ashamed...

that we have such a high rate of poverty and that we can't provide health care for all our citizens when every other civilized country does. We should be embarassed by our bloated military that "protects our freedoms" by blowing up countries left and right which never attacked us. It's criminal and it is shameful.

The money going to help people not only makes us a better country morally and emotionally. It also pays salaries. All of the money that goes to the people in your pictures is spent to pay salaries of the people providing the food, services, and equipment. Better there than the Caymans by a long shot.

9. Your point about the Caymans prompts, "Do you believe anyone would put large sums of money in a bank

anywhere and not expect a return on that money?

If a return is expected it comes from investments ultimately that "pay salaries of the people providing the food, services, and equipment".

Unfortunately such money is often invested in off shore businesses.

10. Could you elaborate?

My main point is that money spent here in this country to make sure kids are fed properly and the sick are taken care of is not just compassionate, not just moral. It is also economically beneficial. And when you think about it, it just makes sense. Those social emotions would not exist if they weren't beneficial.

Hiding money in the Caymans? That stinks of tax evasion. If people like Romney want to live here in the United States, for example, they need to stop trying to evade and loophole their way out of the country's laws.

Do I think a dollar in a Romney account in the Caymans ends up in the paycheck of a construction worker in America? Are you asking that question seriously? Maybe I am misunderstanding you.

11. My point is that dollars put in offshore banks are invested in expectation of a return. That return

comes from someone using that money to operate an offshore business that produces either products or services.

If that happens, then the economy that initially benefits is offshore.

That's exactly what happened with some of the stimulus money the US gave to GM. They invested it in offshore businesses.

Those results are no different, except in names, from depositing our stimulus money in the Caymans.
