of some of Michelle’s outfits, I am sometimes stunned by how klutzy and ill-fitting other ones are. In terms of style, she often hits it right on the nose, but sometimes misses by a mile. Fortunately, though, Michelle is so charming and classy in herself that even her fashion misses do not detract from her overall charm and appeal.

Ann, on the other hand, is not a charming or appealing person, so her fashion misses seem much more damaging. In general, I think her hair is her best feature. It usually looks sleek and attractive, as well as entirely suited to her face, her age, and her position.

But her clothing choices are often often simply weird. I think this outfit is cute in its own way, and would be attractive on a younger woman, but I do think it is over the top for both Ann’s age and her position.

As for the shoes, I think they are very cute, but they don’t really go well with that outfit, and especially they do not suit Ann’s age or status.

I assume she was trying to prove that she and her husband Money Boo Boo are cool and can "kick it with the young, hip crowd." They have been told that they seem stiff and unrelatable to most American voters, so she is trying to come across as more relatable with this outfit. Unfortunately, though she is trying too hard, and it shows.

I think this outfit was too much. Certainly as a suit it was too much especially for her age, plus those shoes were WAY overboard. She's not supposed to be telegraphing "I'm Sexy!" with her clothing if she's going for First Lady. I would have gone plain, plain, plain: simple black top and either simple at her age and standing, but still with plenty of "Wow-factor." ONE statement piece at a time, especially with the leather and the laser-cut "lace" effect. And plain black slippers or even satin evening boots.

But all that stuff going on at once - WAY too much. It would only be appropriate if she were editor-in-chief of W or Vogue, instead of being a political wife in her 50's or early 60's who fancies herself living in the White House, NOT Trump Tower forcryingoutloud! She shouldn't be presenting herself as out there or trendoid, or allegedly "edgy" like this.

A bit too tight and short for the magic underwear? Many Mormons are speculating!

I saw a pic of her and Mitt in HS in 1966 and her dress looked like something a dog barfed up in that one too. suits in vivid day-glo or electric shades were much worse. The colors, the cuts, the fabrics, and the fit were always painful to look at.

With her fair complexion and very blonde hair, Cindy always looked much better when she wore softer shades of blue, green, pink, or rose or neutral colors like black, white, grey, beige, or tan—but she seemed toprefer brilliant hues. Vivid reds and oranges are actually my favorite colors, even for clothes, but on her they were simply too much, especially since she would wear an entire outfit in one overwhelmingly brilliant or electric color, rather than breaking the color up or just using it as an accent to energize an outfit in a softer color.

waaaay over the top.

Each piece, in and of itself, would be ok by itself. The top a bit much, but with a plain black skirt and simpler shoes, fine. The skirt by itself a bit much, but with a plain silk top and simpler shoes, fine. The shoes with a plain black dress, ok.

All together, at once? It's like green plaid with red bubbles and purple stripes together. It's just all too much. And it's all too shiny.

And her legs are waaaay too old looking for that much attention drawn to them.

I'm sure she thinks she looks hip and young and kewl, or something. Just another FAIL.

And since the GOP has seen fit to attack Michelle's beautiful look since day 1, not to mention claim Michelle just doesn't "look" like a 1st lady, Ann's appearance is fair game, imho.

Mormon goth. But overall, better than the getup she wore on the clip on the Daily Show (a mostly red dress with various colored streaks. Or was it white with mostly red streaks? I have a shirt with a similar look - I've been wearing it while painting)

And yes, I've criticized Michelle Obama's outfits at times: still don't like the full skirts with the 3/4-sleeve sweaters that make her look cut in half.

ETA: and too shiny for TV imho: it draws one's focus.

And it looks nothing like biker chic to me. But the shoes are all wrong. If nothing else was available then just some plain black pumps would have looked better. The shoes also make it appear she has thick ankles. I usually don't criticize the way women who are public figures dress, or their appearance, because I think we all have our own style and it is a little petty really. But, since this gal seems to think it's okay for her to criticize others I thought I would chime in with my opinion of her choices this time around.

I agree with that sentiment. The outfit is hideous, and I'd say that even if Michelle Obama was wearing it. The shoes are okay--for a 20-something out on a date. And, the Michelle-copycat gray nail polish makes it look like she smashed her fingers. It worked with Michelle, because of her skin tone, and the pink and gray dress she wore for that convention speech. Here, it just looks like she has bruised nail beds.

Even if we hate the material and everything.

1. The buttons on the jacket have to go. The whole thing is too busy as it is.

2. The jewelry has to go. Same reason.

3. The shoes are terrible. Replace them with a high pump that elongates the leg. No strap to bisect that line of the leg. Stockings!!!

4. A nice coral for the nails and lips.

5. If the sleeves are 3/4 length then try them down instead of pushed up. The outfit has the feel of a late 50s, early 60s sort and if so the 3/4 sleeve complemented it.

Nothing we can do about the skirt length. Pity it doesn't hit at mid-knee.

Once all the changes are made then she could experiment with a single bracelet that matches her nails and a matching necklace - that hangs and doesn't stay up around her neck. Thin coral.

I don't like the outfit personally. It's too busy. I don't like leather and I don't like layers and I don't like the lacy stuff. But the cut is good. It could be made to be more attractive than it is with some changes and she would have looked much nicer. I believe she must have been advised by a much younger person. Or her husband. Mine has talked me into things before when I knew better. Like 6-inch heels.

I just tried this as a fashion exercise. Kinda fun.

"I paid a fucking fortune for all this plastic surgery, and by God, I want my money's worth!"

She's not that unattractive, if you can ignore her personality (and her DH's). And no particular piece of that outfit is too outrageous. It's the total package that fails. My mother would have told her to take off at least half of those accessories.

But what would I know? I even thought Sarah Palin was kind of cute, in a "naughty librarian" way. Until she opened her mouth and revealed one of the ugliest brains in the world.

I am not afraid to admit a woman* who looks and dresses like that is worth a nice long look (if you're single, and if she is). Plus I am all for First Ladies ditching the traditional dress. Fuck tradition, be adventurous! Break the shackles!

There's no emotional block against me admitting a woman can be stunningly beautiful and also the scum of the earth. This is one of those cases. If the Devil came up in female form she would look even better than this.

Anyone ever see that new (short-lived) "V" series? Yeah, that. She was as horrible a creature as they get and she was eye-poppingly gorgeous. Oh, snap, wait, that monster's name as ANNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The boots are a bit much, but at least she matched them with something that didn't cry out for handcuffs as an accessory. A single daring choice doesn't make one look like a bad joke. Am I the only here old enough to remember Bella Abzug and her signature crazy hats?

As I've said, it's not the Republican women's fashion choices that disturb me: It's their way of thinking.

Except for Ann Coulter. In her case, I find both nauseating. Jeezuz, lady, how old are you? Don't you think it's time to dress like a grown-up, instead of like a middle school girl who's doing her best to look like a dominatrix?
