In 2002, Boston U pres John Silber (who died Thursday) busted gay straight alliance at BU prep
I just found this 10-year-old article at the Boston Globe while searching for another article from roughly the same time about Romney/Bain, regarding the actions of fomer Boston University president John Silber (who died on Thursday):
Silber critics pressure BU trustees
Gay support groups call for dismissal

Nearly two months after Boston University Chancellor John Silber disbanded the gay-straight alliance at a high school run by BU, criticism of his decision is still mounting and is being increasingly directed at university trustees.
Last week, state Senator Cheryl A. Jacques, a Needham Democrat, urged BU alumni to withhold donations to the school - and to let trustees know why - during a speech at an alumni breakfast at BU's School of Public Health.
''The university needs to understand there are repercussions for their actions,'' Jacques, a graduate of Boston College, said later.
Jacques, who is gay, said her suggestion was warmly received, with applause, by alumni.
BU officials, including Silber, declined to comment on Jacques's speech.
Silber, the longtime BU president who retook the reins on an interim basis when president Jon Westling resigned in July, gave orders in September for a two-year-old group for gay students to be dismantled at BU Academy.
The academy is a private school for students in grades 8 through 12, located on campus and run by BU.
Silber, 76, said sex education didn't belong at the nine-year-old school. Trustees have not commented publicly on his decision.
