David Sirota was the morning host at KKZN-AM 760 "Colorado's Progressive Talk" in Denver from 2009 to 2012 and is now the co-host of the afternoon drive program on KHOW, The Rundown with Sirota and Brown (the Brown being the disgraced Bush FEMA director Michael Brown, of heckuva job fame). Sirota has also guest hosted the Thom Hartmann and Norman Goldman shows, writes at Salon.com among other places, and has written books. Sirota just posted this Atlantic article by Conor Friedersdorf, "Why I Refuse to Vote for Barack Obama" on his Facebook and commented:
The author of that Atlantic article said he supports Gary Johnson, Libertarian Party candidate, which is why Sirota didn't agree with the conclusion. The article cites the drone strikes, kill list, and Libya intervention as reasons not to vote for Obama. Also the article claims: "Obama has done more than any modern executive to wage war on whistleblowers." Also asks: "How can you vilify Romney as a heartless plutocrat unfit for the presidency, and then enthusiastically recommend a guy who held Bradley Manning in solitary and killed a 16-year-old American kid?"
But given that voting 3rd party in the current political environment is generally a wasted vote, would America under a President Romney be better than re-electing Obama? With a Robert Bork wannabe on the Supreme Court, more austerity, the anti-choice fantasies of the evangelical lobby fulfilled...and of course more war, more drones, indefinite detention and nothing to improve civil liberties.

(1,555 posts)Since about a week after Obama was sworn in, Sirota, in his best whiny child voice, has been disappointed and griped about Obama. I quit listening to him about 6 months in because he was just acting like an ass. Today, his show with Brownie is still a whine-fest but his replacement at AM760, Gloria Neal, is truly a Democrat and is head and shoulders above Sirota in temperament and thought.

(31,236 posts)This is yet another thinly veiled attempt at depressing enthusiasm for PBO, cause he never got over the '08 primaries. Only you know why you thought it newsworthy to post that tripe here, but Mitt's had a tough go since the convention, so that's one explanation. The other is that Gary Johnson's minions aren't as clever as they think.

(137 posts)When he is making a very good case for not supporting President Obama based upon President Obamas actual record.
One does not have to agree with him but he is basing his argument on facts and not something silly like he is a Marxist Socialist born in Kenya.
Just being a cheerleader and blindly supporting Dems does not help to make a more liberal and progressive nation and I would contend that blind support of a Dem or any candidate for that matter has gotten the nation in the place it is in today and most reasonable people can agree with that.
Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.

He isn't seriously going to vote for Romney.
Since Colorado is a swing state, his option is vote for Obama or vote for Romney.
If he lived in a state like Mississippi, he could vote for Jesus for president, and it still wouldn't matter. Mississippi's electoral votes are going to Romney, period.
