Fox & Friends: The Polls Are Rigged!

Fox & Friends: The Polls Are Rigged!

Michael Lester

It’s clear that Fox & Friends has a tricky relationship with data. But on the show Thursday morning, the hosts took that relationship to a whole new level.

After a raft of new polls showed Obama opening up leads in swing states, the Friends flew in to full-blown conspiracy mode...Parroting the latest Republican meme that national polls oversample Democrats, host Steve Doocy threw in to the mix the possibility that pollsters are using voter turnout from 2008 to guide who they should be asking. And why would the “left-based mainstream media” do this? Doocy had an answer.

“Well, two reasons,” he said. “One, perhaps, to keep Mitt Romney’s donors from coughing up more cash. And two, to keep people from doing early voting.”

<...>

One problem with the theories: FOX’s own polling also shows Obama surging in swing states. A survey released by the network just last week showed the president leading Romney by no fewer than five points in Ohio, Virginia and Florida.

Even though the polls are skewed, Republicans beg Mitt to change course

the votes will be rigged and we will be asked to believe that americans really went to the polls and voted for romney.
romney's remarks suggest the same thing. 'we are not worried about your polls" he says as if he has an ace up his sleeve.
i wish we had paper ballots that were counted by hand.
short of that we will never be able to trust the results of elections.

and prevent the RW from freaking out about how badly Romney is doing. All in all, they're in denial.

the media wants advertisement income and without a contest they won't generate as much. they also represent extreme corporatism which wants to see republicans/romney in office.
plus they have fed on their bullshit for so long that they have become addicts. and just like addicts they are willing to do anything for their next fix.
lie, cheat, steal, project their own crimes on democrats, start wars to distract us, make deals with our enemies, you name it, if its a crime or immoral, republicans have embraced it.
the men and women of fox news are a disgrace. they can't really be proud of their work. is their paycheck really worth their integrity?

The vote preference among independents is also unchanged from two weeks ago: 43 percent back Obama and 39 percent Romney. Nearly one in five is undecided.

<...>

The small number of undecided voters have a more favorable opinion of Obama (43 percent) than Romney (31 percent). However, they also are more likely to disapprove (44 percent) than approve (31 percent) of Obama’s job performance.

at least among those who plan to vote. i suspect that nearly all undecideds are really don't want to tell yous.
the question is then, why don't they want to tell?
is it because they plan to vote republican but are embarrassed to admit it (why would someone vote for a candidate whom they were embarrassed by?)? is it because the reason they are choosing to vote the way they do is based on something they don't want to admit to others or maybe even themselves? do they think providing their opinions to pollsters somehow exposes their secret ballot? are they undecided because they are disengaged and don't plan to vote? there must be other reasons for individuals to refuse to share their voting plans with pollsters but i suspect the real undecideds impact on election day is negligible. i think that most, who call themselves undecideds are probably republicans. so i hope they don't vote.
also, i think the media makes much of them to keep the contest alive and maybe to use as a buffer when the election has to be rigged.
i do not know any adult american who is undecided in this race. i know several who avoid talking about the election and who will vote republican (because they always have) but they are not undecided.
