Three things need to happen

1. POTUS must ask for a Democratic House to get things done and end gridlock. HE has to do it. Not his surrogates or friendly media.
Him.

2. Reid has to get rid of the filibuster. All of it. Talk of one day we will be in the minority is a canard. The GOP will do damn well whatever they please no matter what their majority is because democrats do not obstruct, and more improtantly, the GOP will get rid of the filibuster in a heartbeat if they have the chance. We do not have a parliamentary system. Majority rules. Period.

3. If we get the House, pass all progressive legislation right away. No waiting. All the biggies, Everything within a few months: immigration reform, election reform, finance reform, tax increases for the 1% and loopholes closed. And then let it unfold. People will like what they see, and the majorities will stay majorities for a long time.

The above does not require courage. It is simple common sense made glaringly apparent after even a cursory look at the political landscape.

he'll continue chasing pot smokers, dispatching drones, detaining people indefinitely, and dismantling public education. But if he can kill CU and get the jobs rolling again with some infrastructure projects, it might provide us with some momentum for real escape from Free Market Hell

whether by deliberation/design/advice or expediency

At least one of the states will legalize weed by year's end. Unlike gay marriage, he will "devolve" back to his original position. and back off the drug war

The civil rights/privacy stuff.............. na
He will maintaion those positions so long as there are "extremists" out there, which means forever. It will take a real liberal POTUS to end the police/ terror state. That lady POTUS has not been elected yet.
