stumping for Mitt Romney.
There is no device capable of measuring the sweetness of that irony.

(18,668 posts)"Rowe wrote an open letter to Romney on his website earlier this month and said: "If you read the whole thing, I'll vote for you in November."
His campaign tweeted a photo of Romney reading the letter.
" 'Dirty Jobs' was an unscripted celebration of hard work and skilled labor," Rowe wrote. "Every week, we highlight regular people who do the kind of jobs most people go out of their way to avoid."
Rowe said the U.S. has lost sight of the importance of hard work. "Pig farmers, electricians, plumbers, bridge painters, jam makers, blacksmiths, brewers, coal miners, carpenters, crab fisherman, oil drillers they all tell me the same thing over and over, again and again our country has become emotionally disconnected from an essential part of our workforce," Rowe said. "We are no longer impressed with cheap electricity, paved roads, and indoor plumbing. We take our infrastructure for granted, and the people who build it."
Rowe said he wrote a similar letter to President Obama four years ago.
"Of course, that was four years ago, and since I never heard back, I believe proper etiquette allows me to extend the same offer to you now," Rowe wrote.

(505 posts)...He's stumping for all the "Dirty Jobs workers" that Romney dismisses. Rowe showed up because he was invited and he's there for his cause - fighting for dignity for all the hard working people doing jobs that are too dirty for the likes of Romney.
From what I saw, it was an a-political issues-based appearance. Yes, it was at Romney's campaign stop but Rowe did not endorse Romney.
CEP: Please don't take this personally - I'm directing this reply at everyone who jumped at the headline and didn't look before leaping...
Mike Rowe is still Awesome!

(30,151 posts)now everyone will start writing letters to Mittens and his campaign will just decide he has to read them all to get the votes
They will set up a livestream 24-7 of Rombot standing there with letter after letter. Even in the debates, he'll show up but with a stack of letters to read. What was the question again? Sorry, I really can't get behind on these letters

Ford didn't take a bailout itself, but it would've been dragged down in the aftermath if GM and Chrysler hadn't.

I dunnow, I'm inclined to believe that Mike Rowe is more about the workers than the politics.

(3,526 posts)Rowe didn't endorse Romney for anything, much less for President.
Rowe used the spotlight to promote his own very good cause, which should show he's willing to do anything to accomplish that.
Get a grip.

(7,733 posts)the content of what Rowe is saying is liberal and supportive of blue collar workers!

(7,733 posts)But I do have a theory. He wants to push his idea that there is no shame in cleaning poop out of pipes for a living and I happen to agree with that. The odd part about all of this is that Mike is from San Fransisco and has done probably 20 episodes of Dirty Jobs that focused on Jobs created or funded by stimulus money passed by President Obama. He is well aware of Obama's commitment to workers and infrastructure.
I also think Mike would have stood on stage with President Obama had he been asked too. It seems like Mike wants to inject his thoughts into the national conversation regarding jobs, and maybe jump start that conversation since it has fallen to the wayside a bit. Maybe he will still get a chance to do so with President Obama. If he is truly non-partisan I can't imagine him declining a request to speak at an Obama rally.
