The far right wing extremists are going to hammer Biden/Harris on SCOTUS expansion.

I watched Faux today and they kept hammering Biden’s response about “court packing”. Biden/Harris need to have a good response. Declaring he won’t expand the SCOTUS may depress the left. Saying he will may hurt a bit with moderates.

What’s the calculus here, learned DUers?

No reason to do so at all. There's plenty of time to determine that, and it in part is determined on what occurs.

Why throw it away..

You just need 4 senators to agree to delaying after confirmation ..with a guarantee that we won't expand court.

That was the whole point of the Merrick Garland theft.

We're going to EXPAND and UNPACK it, to correct for Mitch McConnell's corruption of the process.

Just a comment that the word "pack" is a bad choice, because that's not what's happening here.

We need to be careful with our language, because it will 100% be used against us if we give the opposition an opening.

I think now is as good a time as any to start the expansion. Let's go to 21 or 27. I like the idea of a phased in approach. Each presidential term gets 4 selections (and replacements) until we get to the determined number.

This is a matter for congress to work through and then send a bill to Joe to expand the court, if that’s how things go.

This will become an issue that will eclipse all others and involves a large cast of characters, so it’s understandable that Biden isn’t pinning himself down.

I trust Biden’s political instincts more than most opinions. I could give a damn about depressing the left; that kind of language plays into how the GOP wants our coalition framed, anyway.

I'd much rather the Dems concentrate on filling as many judicial nominees as possible, then that should buy enough time to get a justice or two.
