(9,274 posts)This was a very bad look for him.

(159 posts)How does a debate moderator control a lunatic like President Trump? Wallace has a much bigger stature than the next two moderators. They are going to have their hands full.

(2,596 posts)He gave Trump much more time than he gave to Biden!
He needs to apologize to Biden for the time that he gave to Trump because he could not shut off the Trump mouth!

(21,731 posts)have been able to control Trump. I think Wallace did well in reminding Trump that he needed to stick to his team's agreement. I liked the part where Wallace asked Trump if he wanted to change places with him.
Trump acted the same way in the 2016 Republican primaries. No moderator could contain him.

(7,968 posts)he could have stepped in but he did not.

(6,476 posts)now if they had rules that would penalize Trump for breaking rules then maybe-but since you can't turn off his mike it wouldn't have made a difference. I think if you break a rule you give your opponent a 2 minute free speaking period. Kind of like sending the hockey goon to the penalty box for 2 minutes

Trump was interrupting the whole time though.

(1,442 posts)Wallace should never again be accepted by any Democratic Party candidate, for any office, as a debate moderator.

(1,184 posts)Trump was talking non-stop, and Wallace unequivocally said that Trump interrupted Biden and was not adhering to the rules the campaigns had agreed to. Seems to me he said the truth and in such a matter-of-fact way that no reasonable person could accuse him of being unfair to Trump.
Not really sure what else people wanted Wallace to do. Physically shut Trump up? Install a mute button mid-debate?

(578 posts)Trump is going to steamroll any moderator unless they have a mute button. I think Chris Wallace did real well are conservatives are complaining about him on conservative message boards and social media.
jimlup
(7,968 posts)or didn't you see that?
Music Man
(1,184 posts)I agree with you. If it were a sane situation I'd be right but given the insane situation that proceeded you are most likely right. Wallace remained sane so he failed. That is tRump.
My initial post was spot on. And well that is all.

(1,351 posts)Even Nicole Wallace didnt buy into the well, its not his fault. What else could he do? excuse. Hillary Clinton as the next debate moderatorI guarantee shed find a way (and, yes, I know Hillary as debate moderator just a fantasybut I guarantee a bad *ss female whose had to deal with ego maniacs like Trump all their life would find a way)

(7,435 posts)or someone else who doesn't give a damn about pleasing a punk like Cadet Bone Spurs?
Not literally, but it's a funny fantasy. Although, someone with a military background and experience handling assholes would work. Guys like Trump are intimidated by such folks. Half the battle would be won before the debate started because Trump would already be scared.

(34,491 posts)But I guess it would have happened to any moderator. Trump was such an ass!

(7,968 posts)He set tRump up for easy questions several times. It doesn't matter that tRump missed all of them. Wallace still did his best... which was biased toward tRump to the hilt.

(42,770 posts)up more. But by not, it played well in Biden's favor.. It highlighted his interruptions.
Wallace's questions were spot on apropos and just like he said, his goal was to be invisible.
