He has been since he was elected......is there some kind of monkey business going on...
Nothing he has done warrants the jokes about him...and it makes me so sad. I was liking him for President...
I remember when Howard Dean was a cinch to get the nomination till they all got to Iowa, and somebody went around to all the groups and convinced them that he wasn't electable. The scream happened AFTER he lost the Iowa primary.

(10,044 posts)But when they criticize the left, usually somebody defends the person being made fun of - but the only defense I see of Biden anywhere is HERE in DU...
Biden doesn't appear much on TV talk shows - he never did. But I recall one program that I shall never forget - the night before 9/11/01 - he was on Larry King, and talked about our security, talking about how easily a bomb-laden barge could float up the river in NY and how packing crates could be filled with nuclear weapons, and he mentioned many ways we could be attacked....and the planes hit the very next day, and all during the attack, all I could think of was Biden's warning...
Biden is not a dummy.

(52,169 posts)he got caught plagurizing his life story from a Neil Kinnock speech. That is what got him his rep as being prone to misstatements.

(37,648 posts)extremely knowledgeable in foreign policy, an excellent politician and campaigner. But has been for years teased about things he says - he's somewhat proud of his off the cuff remarks because it proves he says what he means and what he thinks (you won't find him evading an answer to a question, usually). He has been teased lovingly, though. He's very well liked and highly respected. Still is.

(4,533 posts)and big part of the mockery is the contrast of him against the hyper disicplined Obama.

Biden was my top candidate in the 2008 primaries. I love the guy.
But he has been a figure if fun for many for a long, long, time. (Often unfairly)

(102 posts)...evidently, the one time he didnt credit the quotes he was using in 88..it was picked up in the NYT...I remember, it was a big deal then...as the poster in this thread points out, before all of the technology to redeem him. The press just slammed him bad...and, it turns out, most unfairly.
