(23,356 posts)6. I haven't been donating thru ActBlue....
(they take $$ off the top), but by next month, I will have donated $1,000 to Biden.
In January, I budgeted $3,000 to campaign contribution (forgoing some groceries and other non-essentials) for the year. Before Election Day, I'll hit $5,000. Mostly to Senate campaigns. I've never given more than $1,000 in an election before. That's how badly I want these rat-fucking basturds out.

(99,834 posts)9. YES tips are optional
ActBlue makes no $ off of donations. The 3.95% pays the bank charge for the transaction! ActBlue is a nonprofit PAC. A tip is how ActBlue is funded.

How ActBlue Works
We want as many groups as possible to be able to create strong grassroots fundraising programs. Our platform is available to Democratic candidates and committees, progressive organizations, and nonprofits that share our values for no cost besides a 3.95% processing fee on donations. And we operate as a conduit, which means donations made through ActBlue to a campaign or organization are considered individual donations. You can read more about our structure here.
We take care of building fundraising tools and technology so the groups using our platform can focus on engaging and communicating with their supporters we don't fundraise, donate, or send texts or emails on behalf of any group. And as a nonprofit ourselves, were funded by our own amazing small-dollar donors!

ActBlue is a non-profit PAC. They aren't allowed to take any part of your donation, and the tip is optional.
We want as many campaigns and organizations on the left to be able to use our grassroots fundraising tools as possible, which is why there is no cost for groups to use our tools (we're a nonprofit!). We pass along a 3.95% processing fee on contributions to the groups using our platform. ActBlue does not make money off of donations. Completing a contribution involves costs related to processing your credit card. Were legally required to pass along processing costs to the campaign so that we do not make in-kind contributions to them.
As a nonprofit, we use tips from donors to pay our bills. You can add an optional tip for us on the contribution form when you enter your credit card information.
