the administration is going to give away some Social Security and Medicare benefits in order to make a compromise on the budget.

...session to fix the problem, then they can pass progressive tax cuts that still tax the rich at a greater amount, the republicans can say they didn't raise taxes as per their deal with the devil and everything returns to basically normal, forcing the hand-wringers to move on to the next topic.
