McConnell: "The winner of the November 3rd election will be inaugurated on January 20th"

But Mitch, how can there be a winner of the "November 3rd election" if all of the votes haven't been counted on that day?

Oh.

I get it, never mind.

Leader McConnell
@senatemajldr

The winner of the November 3rd election will be inaugurated on January 20th. There will be an orderly transition just as there has been every four years since 1792.

McConnell got what he wanted to out of Trump, a very conservative supreme court. Trump will soon outlive his usefulness to the Republicans and they will throw him to the wolves without hesitation. Anyone who thinks McConnell will (or even can) make Trump a dictator, therefore giving up his own power, and risking a massive civil war needs to see things objectively. Most Republicans know Trump is a con man and extremely unpopular. None of them really trust him or want him to be around longer than he needs to be. They will play nice as to not piss off his supporters but as soon as Trump loses, and he will, they will wash their hands of him and leave him to his fate. Trump is about to find out just how loyal and trustworthy other Republicans really are.

7. But another Trump term gives them more judges

in the lower courts as well as SCOTUS as other openings are likely (Breyer, Thomas).

McTurtle's words mean nothing as he and Repubs will lie to suit their aims. 'The winners of the Nov 3rd election' could mean anything, as he could simply claim Dems 'stole it' and thus are not the true 'winners'.

or if they can very subtly mess with the vote to pull out a very close win, yeah, McConnell wouldn't give a shit. But McConnell, while corrupt, isn't stupid. He knows as well as the rest of us what is almost certainly going to happen. Trump is going to lose, likely very badly, and he isn't going to stick his neck out for someone with no ability to hang onto power. If Biden wins by what the polls are saying, roughly 8 points, and Trump says he isn't leaving, expect people like McConnell to basically say "Trump? Never heard of him."

they will in no way interfere with the Constitutional transfer of power, and, as you said, is starting to see the writing on the wall and believes that the Mango Menace is going down and going down massively.

About as far as we can throw him.

The fact that he says this means it's actually more likely to NOT be true.
