DU comments welcome on the site.
For Parody Project fans--Don was kind enough to put this up on his channel, but this one was me and TFT alone. Any deficiencies are my fault, not his.

(54,445 posts)It's complicated enough as it is these days. To record the track, I coordinated with our music "director (if it can be so put)" in Atlanta, and he wrote out everyone's part under my guidance. Then everyone recorded their own parts in their home studios, sent them in by email to the main studio, also in Atlanta, and when I was happy with the finished product, a new videographer, also in Georgia, wanted to give this a shot. Her efforts are what you see here. The Parody Project in the Pacific Northwest was kind enough to put the whole thing up on their site, as they have a large loyal following, and we often do videos together. What you saw here was the result of all that. In the Covidian Era, that is how it is done.

Well, DFW, you have a talent for picking the right song to go with your parodies.
Credits? You did the lyrics and who sang? Did you use the original music? It sounds like it.
I always thought very highly of Ray Davies, and was a tad jealous when he hooked up
with Chrissie Hynde (who was born on my birthday, one year later).
eta: I just read your post above explaining my question.

(54,445 posts)I asked my people in Atlanta to listen to the original, and base everything on that. I had to point out a number of corrections I wanted before I was happy with it, and then it had to be mixed by the guy in the studio before we were done. My main musical collaborator is a musical prodigy who can listen to something he has heard only once, and then play it back note for note. He is in his seventies now, but hadn't heard of this song. He nailed it before the singer did, though. He is a pianist and I let him stick a few more notes in there than were necessary, but everyone has a right to a little fun, right?
Un peu de licence artistique.

(7,813 posts)I won't deny that Don at Parody Project has some great ones of his own (I especially like The Song of Donald ), but I unsubscribed when I saw that he had some cruel and false songs about Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton. They are months old and still up on his YouTube channel.
Is that you singing? You have a pleasant and soothing voice.

(54,445 posts)When I sing, most animals with any kind of audio capacities turn and run for cover. Leo Kottke's "geese farts on a muggy day" ain't got nuthin' on me.
I also disagreed with Don's negativity on Joe and Hillary. I knew about his aversion to Hillary long ago--he told me about it straight up. I was not aware of his attitude toward Joe, although considering the alternative, he seems to have adopted a more pragmatic attitude in the meantime.
But he stated publicly on his board, when someone had something negative to say about some of my lyrics, that he did not interfere with the work of his partners. The least I can do is afford him the same courtesy.

(90,837 posts)When Obama was elected, we put our whole project on ice for 8 years.
Since 2017, we felt it was time to come out of the mothballs, and in early 2019, I discovered the Parody Project, and suggested a collaboration. I think I must have been number 13,837 in a line of people who suggested that to them, so they were understandably skeptical at first.
But when our first one (Wasting Away Again In Mar-A-Lagoville), got some real traction, they took me (us) seriously, and we've done some work together in the meantime that I'm proud of. Even my brother has gotten into the act, and guest-wrote two of the ones our brilliant female singer sang: Dumb Down (Petula Clark's "Downtown," and she sounds JUST like Petula Clark) and Can't Stand That Man (Tammy Wynette's "Stand By Your Man," sounding JUST like Tammy Wynette).

We missed out big time in 2004 when his presidential campaign fizzled. He gave the wrong people hope, and scared the wrong people because he was so right about so much.

Along with Howard, I got a thumbs-up from another former Governor, John Hickenlooper of Colorado, who with any luck will soon be Senator-elect Hickenlooper!!
