It costs around $320K in taxes to raise a child to emancipation. The largest expense is the $17K average for education and transportation through preschool, early and secondary years. Medical, food, housing and utilities are the other major factors. Most of the people who can afford abortions will get them, which means that this disproportionately affects lower-income and single parents who won't have ready access to those services. Therefore, more reliance on social programs are needed.

Now, simple math: 30,000,000 x $320,000 = 9,600,000,000,000 ($9.6 TRILLION)


A state that allows 10,000 extra births each year, over 18 years, increases their yearly tax burdens by over $3 BILLION.

Any self-affecting GOP/Libertarian who says it's not about the money is a bullshitter. It's always the money. That's all they gripe about is how much it's going to cost them! If it wasn't the money they'd support the child after it was delivered--ensuring food, housing and medical care. But, they don't because they don't want to pay for someone else's decision--while they force their decision on those very same people to force a delivery.
