I unfortunately do not have a subscription to AzCentral, so I don't have a clue how this would work.

OP
Are there two races on the ballot? For the remainder of the term, and the new term?

(4,846 posts)1. Does that also depend on whether McConnell would do the right thing?
And when it comes to the right thing, I don't think McConnell will ever do it.

to step down ?

(34,857 posts)3. Because she was appointed and it's a special election. That's why.
But it's McConnell who decides when a senator can take the seat I think. So, he could just hold off until January. If that's the case, though, the total needed for a majority changes.

Seems like a strange quirk.

(39 posts)6. There is only one senate election in Arizona
And its a special election which means they are serving out the remainder of McCains term until 2022. So if Mark Kelly wins, he would have to run 2022 midterms in order to get a full 6 year term.

Kelly should be seated as soon as the election is certified.
