I have enjoyed college football and slightly less the NFL for years.

I wish that the playoff included 8 teams instead of 4 but that's ok.

I wish that I had never heard of CTE which has diminished my watching.

Never played football. For me it was playing baseball then wrestling then soccer 9in that order for some stupid reasons), but football (and the NCAA basketball tournament) has been great entertainment for me for a long time. Pastimes with family, friends, co-workers, bar patrons, etcetera.

Covid - out of the sports that I played baseball is probably the best for isolation. Keep the kids in the dugout in masks and don't share foods and drinks and maybe alright. Wrestling not so much; that is out of the question. Soccer sort of like basketball I suppose but with a bigger pallet and more separation.

Football though? Maybe the NFL has super duper daily Covid tests and a financial incentive for players to be careful on their own time. Plus no fans so far so why not? Sure keep it open while you can.

College football? I doubt they have the testing that the NFL can buy. And they (the players) are kids who, like I did at that age, like to party (mostly not all). There will be a lot of passing the virus on to others which has already happened.

I watched a couple of last weeks NCAA football games and they had crowds in the stadiums. Most of the attendees looked to be wearing masks (even the students who were packed together) but still around a lot of strangers and the masks were going off and on pretty often. Plus FSU sucks and KU was even worse...

We/I don't know what a mild case of Covid will do long term to 19 year olds. Maybe nothing but there is creeping evidence that it can be pretty awful. This isn't the flu or a typical illness. It can really screw up lungs and hearts and other organs like...the brain?

Why not can the fall and see what 2021 brings? We will either beat this virus with vaccines, it may mutate into butterfly wings, or we may just have to get used to it and live a little differently than our privileged lazy asses are used to. Or some combination of these things where we get a vaccination every 3 or 6 months in perpetuity. Who the hell knows? Maybe we don't get 100 college football games every Saturday anymore. So what get over it. Maybe that system has become so warped with BIG $$ ESPN and TV contracts that it needs to crash. Same with the NCAA BB Tournament, oh sorry, the "Final Four", even though 64 or 66 teams play...

The vast majority of players do not go pro. Also maybe Universities should stop milking the football and basketball teet for funding. Maybe we should figure that out (financing shit) without prostituting our students. We are like meth heads. We can't get enough.

I think maybe I should pay more attention to baseball now.

grounds for the pro sports . many kids didnt care about the school part but did for sports . my objection was that they were a after school activity. i feel that in some sports social distancing may be impossible , but i could be wrong. ive seen different strategy's have been in place . dont know how well they may work.
