Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney made several demands during his Wednesday appearance at the University of Miami forum sponsored by Spanish-language network Univision , according to the website BuzzFeed.
Univision anchor Maria Elena Salinas told Buzzfeed that tickets for the Meet the Candidate forums were divided between the network, the respective campaigns and the UM.
But after exhausting the few conservative groups on campus, the Romney camp realized there weren't enough sympathetic students to fill the stands on their night so they told the network and university that if they weren't given an exemption to the students-only rule, they might have to "reschedule," the website said.
Romneys campaign then bused in activists to fill the seats.

(10,952 posts)Romney's demand. Univision should have given Romney a choice: 1) Participate in the forum based upon the agreed rules or 2) leave. If Romney left, then Univision would have no choice but to go ahead with Romney's time slot using an empty chair and tell the audience that Romney refused to participate. They should then have been straight up with reporting Romney's various temper tantrum (i.e. tape a new intro, let Romney pack the empty seats, etc.). They could have then filled the segment with a discussion of Romney's behavior and playing various clips of him on tour, etc.
All they had to do was look him in the eye and ask him how he thought his campaign would look if he walked out and they filled his time slot with an empty chair.

(4,113 posts)Throughout the entire campaign, Obama has spoken to full houses or open areas with tens of thousands in attendance. Romney plays before several dozen or a few hundred and he has to rent a lot of them out to just show up.
Having said that, I'm still wary of all of the money the Romney camp will have going for it and know that the nazis are doing everything to restrict voting rights in several key states.

(14,040 posts)If they hadn't caved, the story would be about Univision, not RMoney. Now the story is about RMoney acting entitled and like an asshole. It plays better as a story that they cooperated.

(10,952 posts)did not cave to his demands? Continuing on with an empty chair on the stage and detailing Romney's various temper tantrum would not have made Romney look good. Most reasonable independents and middle of the road voters already have a good idea of Romney's true personality by now.

which is more than the English speaking only media do.
And you can bet that if we're hearing about it that all Spanish speaking people are too.
edited to change US media to English Speaking media because they're all US media.
