(11,481 posts)Fires in every direction from town. Very sad, some of the smaller towns outside us have had many buildings and stores burn down.
I would like to go but hubby wont until we are told to go. I thought we are a good size town no way will it hit this whole area, boy was I wrong!
My car is packed if we need to go.

(11,481 posts)The way the fires started a lot of people think someone started them. Weird how it was all over. The power company said fire wasn't in areas he was worried about.

(15,137 posts)The smoke is terrible. We are south and so far, we are safe. Do you have somewhere to go?

(11,481 posts)And we are just outside the level two area across the street so close. If we went we would just drive till we found something up north. Our kids are in Cali and dealing with smoke there from fires near their areas. The whole west coast is crazy!

(15,647 posts)In 33 years of living in Oregon, I have never seen anything like the current wildfire situation. California, yes, but the entire west coast?! Pretty frightening actually.

(7,220 posts)Swear to god, there was a lumber yard on fire on the way out of the area I was being evacuated from, which I understand is the #3 priority in the nation right now. I've lived in Oregon since '04, lived in CA my whole life before that. Never seen anything like this.
We're safe, and that's what matters. I just hope we still have a home to return to.

(15,647 posts)freaky weird. Parts of the the Oregon Coast were warmer than the valley and Cascades yesterday. Big east winds in the morning especially. ... Glad you made it out okay. Lots of homes burned on the McKenzie River east of Eugene yesterday. Evacuation notices were broadcasting on my phone and radio all day yesterday. Hope today is better.

(35,706 posts)wrapping my head around all of this.
We hear these reports and we see the terrible pictures of raging fires on the news. We try to imagine what it must be like to try to survive without utilities because they have been turned off for safety reasons. Or to be hiking and have to be helicoptered out because of being trapped by the fires.

(1,943 posts)The Bear Fire, burning toward Oroville CA, is blowing up, as are the other big ones. The maps with satellite data are good, but 2-3 hours out of date. In these high wind/ low humidity/extreme dry conditions, that amount of time is an eternity. This is an amazing event in California, Washington, Oregon. Think Camp Fire (burned up the town of Paradise) times 10 or 20 or 30 or more.
