September surprise turns into September/October surprise? I did not know that Steve Jobs' widow owns the Atlantic
Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, said his magazine's story about Trump calling Americans who died in battle "losers" and "suckers," was just the tip of the iceberg.
"I would fully expect more reporting to come out about this and more confirmation and new pieces of information in the coming days and weeks," Goldberg told CNN's Chief Media Correspondent Brian Stelter on "Reliable Sources" Sunday. "We have a responsibility and we're going to do it regardless of what he says."
The magazine received backlash -- from Trump and many others -- for attributing the information to four anonymous sources. CNN has confirmed several aspects of The Atlantic's reporting, also with sources who chose to remain anonymous.
But Goldberg said that's how the media is able to do its job of uncovering stories that take place behind closed doors.

No wonder trump tweeted today to his supporters to bash Steve Jobs' widow. She owns "The Atlantic".

(53,833 posts)Goldberg says there's more to come. We still have a ways to before Nov. 3 and we know the repugs are going to spring some dirty shit in October so having damaging, truthful info to combat their garbage lies is a good thing.
Who knows, he may have enough to spread some out before mid-October.

(9,771 posts)Trump family financial shenanigans was released in the midst of a news cycle that almost guaranteed it wouldn't get nearly the attention it deserved.
Then again, with the endless stream of negative issues regarding Pissolini, there are very few times any one story can get all of the attention it should.

I also like Maya Angelous quote, Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can't practice any other virtue consistently. You can practice any virtue erratically, but nothing consistently without courage.

We have to believe that respect and virtue will ultimately win, but in November would be a great start!

(53,833 posts)Remember, Comey's letter did not come out until Oct. 28 and it had a devastating effect on Hillary's campaign. Many say it's the main reason she lost as polls shifted dramatically for trump after that.

(6,844 posts)Felt like I'd been gut punched when I heard that on NPR, on Friday afternoon, after work. The facts reported at that time were inconclusive, had no closure. Yet, due to Hillary's manufactured reputation as a duplicitous, mean spirited witch conclusive data didn't matter. The teeth were sunk deep into the jugular. I could almost feel the pulling away, almost hear it. The sound of 1% of uncommitted voters freeze, their hands on the voting machine levers, waver, from Clinton to Trump to Clinton to Trump to Trump. It was deafening.
If that FBI goon really didn't understand his role in the plot, he surely is a great moron. Or, more probably, a great traitor.
The current all-stars of Nixon's team of 'dirty tricksters', when they gather in jealously guarded exclusivity, probably still toast that moment as a great victory, a culmination of long sought efforts rewarded, 23 years in the making. And they should, it was almost prescient how this "Hail Mary" connected. They could then return safely to their lairs, return to their normal state of public invisibility, enshrouded in anonymity, to the comfort they exist to enjoy and always to deny others. Cold blooded things are essentially lifeless for the winter months, deep in the mud.

(17,946 posts)and others like him are a worry. The Comet Ping Pong, Pizzagate shooter comes to mind. Plus, nothing and I mean NOTHING is going to move the maggots. They're too invested in a cult that would make Jim Jones envious. Even if sources chose to come out publicly, the maggots wouldn't believe them.
It's the edges we're working on. The mile wide, foot deep independents who aren't all that politically engaged, but do show up to vote. The ones who may have pulled the lever from Trump because they didn't like Clinton for whatever reason and thought what the hell. The ones who said.."give him a chance"..in January 2017 to those of us who KNEW it would end in disaster, only to later tell us "gee, you were right. He is crazy." Usually, in so many words. I know a number of folks who won't admit to voting for Donnie, probably did and now regret it. I also have several family members who are true maggots and need a thorough deprogramming like they were snatched away from the Heavens Gate cult. We'll never reach the latter. We will reach the former.
