NY-22: Tenney Takes Max-Out Donation From Donor With History of Racist Ideology & Discrimination
Claudia Tenney may want to call her office.
According to Business Insider and Popular Informations explosive reporting, a key donor to Tenneys campaign, businessman Peter Zieve, was sued by Washington State over accusations of discriminating against minority employees.
Zieve maxed out to Claudia Tenneys campaign earlier this year, donating $2,800 to her.
According to the Seattle Times, Zieves company agreed to pay $485,000 in a consent decree with the Washington Attorney Generals office to end a year-long discrimination investigation into the controversial CEO. As part of the settlement, Zieve was removed from direct hiring decisions.
And this was not Zieves first controversy. According to the Herald Net in Everett Washington, in 2016 Zieve mounted an anonymous postcard campaign to oppose a mosque.
Herald Net also reports:
A year later, alleged discrimination against Electroimpact employees resulted in a $485,000 state fine against the firm. The attorney general concluded that Zieve refused to hire Muslim applicants, harassed workers based on their religious faith, and rewarded employees who married and had children.
Zieve offered his nearly all-white staff a $1,000 procreation bonus and at least $1,000 for a marriage bonus to prevent against repulsive immigrants populating the country.
Zieve even recently mounted a direct mail campaign claiming low-income housing could bring in crime and drugs to Mukilteo, Washington where he resides.
Why would Tenney accept the donations of someone who was sued for discrimination and thinks immigrants are rubbish?
Claudia Tenney continues to be an embarrassment to NY-22. No wonder she wants to flee back to Washington and away from voters. She has accepted money from some pretty unscrupulous individuals and this is no different. Tenney should immediately return this max out donation and repudiate Mr. Zieve for his troubling comments, said DCCC Spokesperson Christine Bennett.
