At work yesterday

A big republican fundamentalist christian started in on me in front of a group of other co workers calling me a bleeding heart liberal. I stood my ground and said I was proud of being a bleeding heart liberal and that I support Obama and that democrats are christian also and that Obama is not a muslim and he was born in Hawaii period. That the republicans destroyed the economy. Also let him know where the bleeding heart came from being a christian. It was a slam for being a christian along with jesus freak. Bleeding heart references sacred heart of Jesus painting. He backed down and nothing to say but I had some cheers, high fives and knuckle bumps from my other co workers.

We should always let them know that Democrats are also people of faith.

I am a Christian and I am a Democrat.

In fact, I am a Democrat because I am a Christian.

This is not to say that every Democrat should be a Christian. That is not the way of the Democratic Party.

But it does seem to be the way of the Republican Party.

I did not have anymore problems the rest of the day and still worked with later that day he told me that it was possible to work with someone across the aisle.
