COVID is killing The Greatest Generation and Trump doesn't care

Flashback to June when The Lincoln Project released an ad slamming Trump for letting The Greatest Generation die of coronavirus while Trump and Republicans told them to sacrifice themselves for the economy and Trump’s reelection. That definitely adds to Trump not just being indifferent to veterans but seems to actively despise them.

He'd let everyone die if he thought it would win the election.

He didn’t hide in a hotel room because he was afraid his combover would be ruined by the rain, while calling American’s who served in WWI “losers”.

Not to dismiss some of things accomplished by this era, but I never understood The Greatest Generation designation. I wrote a poem about the forties in my poetry book. I called it out..

THE FORTIES

Brokaw called the Forties the greatest generation.
I strongly disagree.
They put Japanese-Americans in jailed camps.
Jim Crow laws kept African Americans from being free.

Big band and jazz swooned the airwaves.
Laid the foundation for rock and roll.
Everyone sat around listening to
Ella and Tony
on their Firestone Air Chief radio.

It was the title of Tom Brokaw’s book in the late 90s and just stuck as common wisdom. Kind of like McCain was a maverick.

I don’t know if calling the WW2 generation that preceded the book.
