Warning!!

Don't know if this has been discussed already but here goes. Here is a Presidential election scenario that we need to make sure everybody is aware of before November 3rd so that Fat Donnie and his minions can't manipulate public opinion and try to steal the election if he loses. The scenario is based on the possibility that Democratic voters will used mail in voting the most followed by independent voters and then Republican voters the least. This will mean on election day it may be reversed with more Republicans voting in person than Democrats. So the scenario, on election day the media does their usual coverage of trying to determine the winner that night. Since in person voting gets counted first and faster the media reports the Fat Donnie has a good sized lead and he and the Republicans start claiming that he has done it again and has 'won' a second term. In the following days the mail in votes are counted and since they skew to the Democrats Donnie's lead evaporates and Joe Biden ends up winning (In my opinion hopefully by a comfortable margin). Now due to the fact that Fat Donnie has planted the idea that mail in voting is rife with fraud his base gets up in arms, maybe literally, with his prodding to say the election was 'stolen' and that the numbers on election day should be the only ones that count. Who knows what his base would do in this scenario but it could get violent. So those that believe in our democratic system must make it very clear before election day that we should not expect to know the winner right away. Make it clear why that is as explained above and preemptively let people know that a change in the lead as votes are counted is not uncommon and that with Covid and the change in how people vote it is a very possible scenario. We can't let the process be put in doubt for crass political purposes.

We're on to them now. The Dem Party has been working on this scenario for a long time because of suspicions (well grounded IMO) that there will be significant cheating by the repukes in this election. It's the ONLY way Trump can win!

Stop handwringing. The party is expecting this and preparing accordingly!

3. Yes. This messaging has to be put out front and center in advance of election day.

While folks on MSNBC talk about this often - not sure the idiots watching Fux News are getting the message: the results will not be ready to go that Tuesday night - mail in ballots take longer and it will be a red mirage at first until the true (blue) results come in.

but prepare for the worst!

We (the Dem Party) already know the tactics they're going use and have plans for response. This time we KNOW pretty much what to expect.

At the polls, seeing as how in person voters might skew Republican?

This is precisely why the GOP and DT have sown the seeds of distraction and distrust in the process.

en masse to the polls during a pandemic as there is early voting and mail voting available. You're right though that the usual election night "call" by the media as to who is the winner won't happen. It'll drag on, as you say, into next morning and day or even days.

But that's not such a huge deal since inauguration of the president and the start of a new term will be nearly three months away in Jan.

10. That three month lag is worrisome.

At least for this election I think it would be safer for the country if the inauguration were not delayed.

12. You're right. Three months is more than enough of a transition period.

It should be shortened as an unstable idiot like trump, being able to seethe all that time from a loss while contemplating what the New York AG and Manhattan DA have in store for him, there's no telling what he'll incite his maga morons to do.
