Trump Looks Close to Full Derailment
September 4, 2020 at 7:21 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

Stephen Collinson: “There have been many weeks when the Trump train has looked like it’s going to jump the tracks. But in the seven days since the Republican convention, the President has come perhaps as close as he ever has to a full derailment.”

“The outrages, conspiracy theories and drama have come so fast that it’s almost impossible to believe Donald Trump can keep this up for another eight weeks until Election Day.
But as Democratic nominee Joe Biden begins to travel and to offer an alternative vision of sober presidential-style leadership, events of the last few days have clarified the personality clash and issues that will decide the race.”

past week. We have long wondered what it would take for them to have the blinders removed so they could see how much they have been deceived and misled. (Not making excuses for them. They WANTED to believe the lies he told.) So will they fall out of love with him? Or will they go over the cliff with him? The next few days and weeks will reveal their character and willingness to stick with the madman.

The big question: Do they have a breaking point?

And what if they don’t break off their love affair? How can we survive as a country with that many people who refuse to see the truth or admit they were wrong?

It's a religious belief, not a response to observable facts. It will take an enormous effort at deprogramming to bring the "faithful" to the realization that the world operates differently to what they've been propagandized into believing.

Their expectations have been set for some long time much like those who anticipate The Rapture. Such foundations are unlikely to be shaken to the extent that they abruptly wake up to a reality they clearly deny exists.

He may yet drive some of them away through a display of weakness which breaks their illusion of him as the Uber Male. Such breaks in his facade have lost him a few followers here and there.

Post-WWII Germany and Post-Wall East Germany contained large populations of similarly programmed people. Many of those remained lost to reality and struggled to cope in the absence of the propaganda which fed their beliefs.

NOBODY wants to admit they were wrong. It’s not easy to do, especially if the “beliefs”, however wrong or misguided or misinformed, are as closely held as they are with this crowd.

It’s gotta be extra hard for this bunch. Because they weren’t just wrong. They were HAD.

Had at the end of a freakin’ fork, in this case.

have SO MUCH INVESTED in the wrong belief - will be near impossible. They invested a lot - emotionally and psychologically. And they loved their initial win. It was so sweet. Their way of life and values were chosen. Plus sticking it to the libs paid off big. They won't easily admit defeat.

A South politician preaches to the poor white man
"You got more than the blacks, don't complain
You're better than them, you been born with white skin, " they explain
And the Negro's name
Is used, it is plain
For the politician's gain
As he rises to fame
And the poor white remains
On the caboose of the train
But it ain't him to blame
He's only a pawn in their game

I still remember "there's no way tRump can beat Hillary"...."she's got this".... Well, we have a fucked up way to elect presidents that gives a 2 to 3 percent advantage to GOPers (don't forget - 65 Million is more than 62 Million), so we can't afford to let up.

but who is going to notice out there in TV land? His behavior has always been outrageous to sane people but perfectly acceptable to his fans and his enablers, as in "oh, that's just his style."

Right now, he's just throwing random shit out there to see if any of it will stick. He's desperate and desperation will make him very dangerous and most people will be oblivious to what's happening.

This is the first time in my life I really wish I could drink, I'd spend the next 6 months in a sodden stupor, coming out of it in March in the hope by then there's a Covid vaccine through testing and approval and the country is done with the Orange Menace.

His usual tactics of distraction and abusing people no longer work.
With COVID-19, he has come across an enemy he cannot bully into submission, nor can he distract the public from the results of his lack of effective response to the virus.

People are sick of his antics. Best to laugh at him (now), vote (Nov 3rd) and get revenge (later).

MANA! Make America Normal Again!
(That's more important than 'Great'.
MAGA: a slogan with no actual meaning, unless you project your own desires into it.)

Trump is running scared. And so he should.
